The Golf was rad, make no mistake, but the thing is. you could just get another one. That's why no one's bothered, and that's why it doesn't matter.
The Mini and the Fairlady? You can't just get another one of those. You sell either of them, you'll likely never have either of them ever again. And that's what's wrong with the Golf. It's expendable.
Sometimes that's an advantage, because you don't need to worry about it, it doesn't matter if it gets rear-ended - you just get it fixed. But the reason why it's 'boring' is because it's expendable.

I reckon it was just a boring car. They're too quiet so even if it's fast, it doesn't feel fast 'cause you can't hear it. You buy a loud shitbox thats 2-3x slower but sounds like you're driving a heavily modified track car and you instantly enjoy it more. The traction controls and all that new tech mumbo-jumbo ruins the driving experience for me as well. What can I say, I really like shitty cars 'cause they're fun.

Never expected you to keep it honestly. The ones you do keep like the 240 and the mini you can tell when you are building them that they aren't going anywhere. There is just a passion and excitement to you when you build them, there is no question that this is a keeper. Though I never doubted you liked the Golf, there just wasn't that excitement when you built it. I'm more surprised that you still had it really.

Reliable is not a word I would associate with a Volkswagen product. But the words you said, boring, bland and missing the reason why you really like a certain car. It s like a model 3 it s fast but as a car enthusiast it does nothing for me and neither does a golf. So I get it. Ps I still upset that you sold the white clean s15 all those years back.

He said they're cheap. I've seen 2019 models for sale at 55, 000. You can get 3 brand new Yaris' for that with a lot of left over.

I don't mind the Golf R, but the mods were mostly made by professionals with kit parts, so I always felt it did not really fit in with the MCM family of cars. Hope we get some 1990s nugget that is more easily MCM modable this time.

When u said the opposite of a golf i thought you'd show the 240z, but i guess that isn't unreliable. I think most people understand why you'd sell the golf, its more of a car that is technically very good, but lacks character and fun

The only problem I had with the golf was that I thought it was a bit soulless. That and it just did all the fun, technical parts of driving for you. I could see it being crazy fun to begin with, but becoming boring over time.

Moog, I went from a 2013 Gulf R, to a 2012 911 Carrera 2S for the exact same reason. Sometimes you just need something that isn't sensible, why do you think so many bros end up with hot crazy women!

Golf R is perfectly good as that one car that does all and is more or less reliable, it's not exactly the fun car that breaks and you can wrench on. Golf always lacked some character to me
