I actually had a college kid pull into my shop one day, that had actually done this. The car had a huge oil shitstain going up the back hatch, and glass, ran like ASS, and was dripping oil EVERYWHERE. I couldnt even read the dipstick, it would just be all the way up the stick everytime I attempted to check it. He then asked what I was doing, and I said, uh, checking the oil. The look on his face told me everything I needed to know. He just said Oh. I asked him if he recently added oil, he said yes. I asked him how much oil, he said that he had lost count, but that he had to go and purchase more, several times, from the gas station he was at, a few miles ago. I tried REAL hard to not die from laughter, as I drained at least 8 quarts out of the oil pan. I charged him for a standard oil change, put the required 4 quarts back in it, and told him NO guarantees what shape his engine was in, and that it might leak oil from a blown seal or 2. It did seem to run alright and was still quiet after that though. Some kids.

Guys, youve brought back some funny/not funny memories for me. when I was an 18yo idiot (Im currently 46yo & significantly more mature, the oil light came on, on my Ford Escort 1. 3l & I was kinda clueless about the dipstick malarkey. I stopped at a petrol station, bought 5l of oil & dumped as much as I could get into the engine - literally brimming it. The cloud of blue smoke when it eventually started & I gunned it, completely engulfed the filling station & slowly drifted up the road, ominously! I decided to burn off any surplus oil, on the motorway (remember, I was an idiot. I had never driven it on the motorway before, so tried for the obligatory ton (100mph. I was in the outside lane, doing 90-something, when a 1cm diameter hole blew out of one of the pistons! I became an award-winning Mazda motor vehicle technician (mechanic, then after a solid >9yr career, transitioned into the IT arena.

so I've got a story for you guys. I have a ford 3. 0 duratec. Had a nasty oil leak and after filling it would be empty in 2 days. I couldnt afford to fix but had to drive to work. after about a week and 300 kms I forgot the car had an oil leak. filled it and went on with my life. 8000 kms later I did an oil change filled it and drove about another 13000 kms with the intent to buy another car. Ended up getting laid off and couldnt afford said new car but with bills still coming in I had to drive the car and couldnt afford to put anything aside gas into it. this car now has 210000 kms everything is fixed up and still going strong. Reason i kept it? After 20000 kms with barely to no oil she's still alive and no knocks no noises nothing. Damn beast this motor is. Im not saying all are but the one in my taurus is.

Alright. Mistershrimac toleme to watch your movies because he says weare the same but I dont thing so. Look here I am from South Africa so we may belong to the same hemispheric area and even the same continent billions of years ago but I dont understand youre language Australia man. You also did a good job in filling oil but then you decided to break a car in my country we like cars and we only damage them for parts after Itis stolen but the car that is ours we keep. There is even a man who use the shifting spinner as a steering holder and bribe money. I will look at more of your movies but right now Iam note convinces that we can talk. Do you want to come to my house?

Been driving my old mazda3 for about 3 years with no oil change AND no checking levels. Freeway runs to and from work everyday. Probably say 50kms everyday all up approx.
Last week when cranking it over a red 'oil' light came on the dash, but as soon as it was started it went away, so obviously good to go: )
Anyway, all this fuss about 'change your oil' Huh, I bet MOST people never do it.
Car runs like a dream, I do push it a hard a bit, because I like getting to 100 as quick as I can. :)
Good car really, cheap and has got me to work without fail for 3 years NO services, no oil check.

I had a girlfriend who got a used little toyota truck for her 16th birthday. A few years later it seized. She didn't realize it needed oil changes and it had slowly leaked or burned out. She never brought it to a garage or anything ever. This must have been early 90s or so when here in the US all they did for inspections in many states was: check your horn, lights/blinkers, mirrors, no sharp objects on the body and no holes in the floor. She did learn a lesson. By the time we dated she changed her oil NO LATER than 2k miles even with synthetic. Haha.

My sister brought a brand new car and after the first service never changed the oil or even added any. I told her I could do it for her if she just got the oil, filter etc but it never happened. A few years later I got a text saying that her oil light kept coming on every time she cornered and that my brother had tried to add oil but it wouldn't go in. A days or so later she brought it around so I could have a look and the entire engine was full of think black tar. The oil had been in so long it had solidified.

Same thing happens if you put a mower on its side to sharpen blades. Oil will go past rings and hydrolock it. So if you fill close to the bottom of the pistons stroke its going to start getting by the rings. To the top of the valve cover is just crazy. Pcv gonna be sucking oil plus valve seals may start to let oil in behind valves but thats probally drops compared to the ounces making it by rings.

Being the unwise young dude I was, I kept driving thinking I'd at least get to the next interchange. The next gas station. When it stopped, I never got it going again. RIP Chevelle.
