Chris, I just replaced my front pads and rotors thanks to this video, but when I started the engine and pressed on the brake pedal to pump it up, I hardly felt feedback. I took the car for a test drive, and the brakes work, but they are not firm or hard as you described. In order to brake, it feels like I'm pressing further into the pedal than should be the case. Does this raise any alarms for you? I'm about to take it on a road trip, so I'm nervous. It's a Ford Explorer if that helps.
Since I'm taking this road trip, I've got one other question for you. I over-torqued one of the lug nuts when I put the wheels back on and snapped 1 of the 5 studs. I know I'll have to fix it soon, but is it really that unsafe to be missing 1 stud (driver side wheel? It's an 8hr highway trip one-way. I don't have much time before leaving to fix it and would hate to bring it to a mechanic after the work I put into the car myself. Hope you can offer some advice, thanks!

I probably shouldn't have assumed that my brakes are fine.
A week ago the front right brake started making noise, today i checked the pads and they're worn super unevenly, inner pad is worn to the backing plate, but the outer (which is visible without removing the wheel) still has plenty of life left.
Also the rotor has a pretty big lip, it's grooved, and also the inner wear surface is narrower than the outer.
I guess it's time for me to do my first brake job.

Great video! I have been doing my own brakes for decades. Although, there is something you REALLY need to address regarding the dangers from, and the correct methods of coping with, electric parking brakes when doing brake pad replacements. They can cause serious injury and/or damage if not properly deactivated before the job. Then, you have to reactivate and recalibrate them (to compensate for new pad thickness) after the job. Keep up the good work!

Chris, I recently replaced my pads & rotors but they still pulsate a lil when braking sometimes, kinda like when your rotors are worn/warped but not as bad. Can you think of a reason why. I've done brakes a few times in the past.

in general, can I put rotors of another car on mine? it is dificult to find parts of my vehicle on my country. I would need to change the brake calipers as well if i change the rotor model?
reply

Thank you Chris! I successfully changed my car brakes and rooters. The first side was a hassle and kept pausing your video after every 10 seconds. The other side went by smoothly!

If i had a neighbor that did this as a side hussle I'd pay him instead. I doubt the brake places uses silicon, sprays, and metal brush when changing them out.
