Hey Chrisfix. I recently found your videos on YouTube while searching around about transmission oil changes. You do great how-to videos! I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I bought a truck in upper Arkansas and later this year I'm permanently moving down to Florida. My question was on the topic of rust. I want to keep this truck as long as possible because vehicles are investments and my main concern is rust on the undercarriage. I know going from someplace like Arkansas to a high humidity place like Florida brings vehicles more susceptible to rust. I was thinking of trying to find a place that can do a protective undercoating but have heard different thoughts about doing that. What's your opinion? I was going to do regular undercarriage washes when I get down there but is there any other way I can avoid or lower the rust that will accumulate on the undercarriage? Thanks! I have a 1997 Toyota Camry and my work requires highway driving and backroads mix. I try to change the oil every 3, 000 miles but I will push it to 3, 500 miles max before change if my work week has a lot of highway driving. My engine setup does not allow me to pre fill my oil filter so I have to put 3. 7 quarts of high mileage 5w-30 lets just say 4 quarts since cars do burn oil. 3. 5 quarts if you decide to prefill the oil filter but you will make a mess due to how Toyota designed their 4 cylinder engine so dont pre fill the filter. Just oil up the O-ring. After 4 quarts, I always have a quart left since my car burns oil due to age and it has over 200, 000 miles. Hope this helps someone.

My dipstick is heavily marked with oil up to the max line, meaning between the min and Max the oil on the dipstick is darker, while it's faintly showing above the max line, does that mean it's just about to much oil? And I should remove a bit?
As well I'm assuming if I checked the engine when it's cold it's fissure going to be over when it's warm the engine?
Lastly when adding oil after an oil change, am I supposed to add less being that the engine has some remannance of the old oil still stuck around the engine?
If so why would the manufacturer recommends 6. 4q when doing an oil change?

My son says If the oil filter is in sideways at the bottom of the engine, you will still get to prefill your oil filter without making a mess, but you just can't fill it up all the way. You only won't be able to prefill the oil filter without making a mess if it is at the top of the engine (upside down. You made a video very recently just 1 day ago and you showed me that the oil filter is in sideways and you still preoiled the filter not to the full line, so you can still do it.

Hi Chris, i'm using LiquiMoly 10W-40 MoS2 Leichtlauf Semi-Synthetic ACEA A3 Oil in my Corolla AE-91, my car is parked in the garage of my house and drive's intervals are very high but i'm starting the engine once in a week. What is the suitable oil change interval for me 10, 000 KM or a specific time, because the car's overall mileage is 5000 KM since 2011 and the last oil was changed in January 2016 and till now only 2500 KM on the odometer?

Hey Chris got a question for you.
I've got a 2003 Monaro (GTO) tha't s only got 40, 000km on it, looking to do an oil change soon and wondering if I should give it a flush. As you can tell it was rarely driven until I got my hands on it. It's practically been stored for most of it's life with the occasional start every few months.

At some point, I'd be interested in hearing why you switched from Bosch oil filters and why you picked Purolator (vs. Wix or OEM, for example. Same re: your views on copper vs. iridium plugs. In this video, you seemed not to prefer synthetic oil; curious about that too.

ChrisFix a friend came to me with a unique problem. his wife took his jeep compass to an undisclosed oil change company and when they changed the oil they put thread locker on the threads of the new filter. now he cant get the filter off. any suggestions

I think I was like 8 when my dad taught me. Never once have I let anyone change my oil. I am coming up on 6k miles in my WRX and it's time for an oil change. I am thinking of doing a Fumoto valve and a little video

I use silicone grease on the rubber seal. just like Cessna Aircraft requires on their aircraft oil filters. Don't over tighen the filter. if you have to use a wrench to get the filter off. you over tighten the filter.
