I really liked this instructional, it-s close to the drifting lessons I took recently (albeit on a low friction surface.
The only comment I-d have for the Autocar team is to somehow land with the viewers that:
1. This stuff is not for the road, ever.
2. Yes, drifting may help you get more -feel- for what-s happening in the car as it goes over the limits of grip but if you hit ice on the road or overcook a slide on a track the only course of action anyone should take is BRAKE. Brake hard and early to get as much energy out of the car as possible. If any mere mortal tries to power out or steer in/steer out of a slide on the road they-ll only come off much worse.

Nothing better than watching a car sideways. The science and techniques behind it are equally interesting. I-ve watched so many videos on how to drift but if you really want to know you have to get out there and do it and feel the car around you as you try drift. You spin a couple times and then you start to get a feel for it. I uploaded my first slides in a car for those that are interested.

Did a couple of drift days at Donnington with Caterham and it's so much harder than you think. Donuts are easy enough, bigger sliders too but transitions, keeping the momentum under control is so hard. I couldn't do the slalom very well and I couldn't go from a big figure of 8 down to a donut around a cone. Just couldn't get the entry. Proper eye opener haha. Great fun though!

There's no fixed camera angle facing out showing the steering imput or one showing the feet work. Those few seconds of shaky cam didn't help.
The last thing viewers need to see when you're teaching driving is your faces. Perhaps next time just aim the cam at the steering like when you film a hot lap.

The Autocar presenter Matt Prior manages to turn something quite fun and interesting into something very boring. Saps all the fun and adrenaline out of it. Would rather watch this with just Marco explaining his craft. Stick to writing articles. You need a personality for video no offence intended!

Prior CANNOT teach anyone to drift. Calo is technically easier to understand. BOTH talk TOO MUCH considering what little drifting you did. And, talk about patrionizing each other! This vid is about how NOT to teach anyone to drift. HINT: Focus on drift tasks, execute the tasks, repeat.

Good video, I would have liked it a bit more and found more interesting if they would have discussed LSDs as these can make a massive difference in a RWD car. They can be far less forgiving and would need a slightly different approach.

If anyone wants to watch a better video, search for 'Chris Harris how to drift'. Some how this video isn't great to watch, which is strange as the car is great and the topic is even better, but delivery was boring. Good attempt though.

Interesting, but it would be brilliant to make use of an over-shoulder camera rather than a cutaway that-s been filmed another time. It might not look so cinematic, but when it comes to seeing technique it would really help.

Guys, that is just a lot of confusion.
Being a nice idea what about to give it another try aiming to be much, much clearer and structured?
