Over seven generations and 50 years, the Porsche 911 has changed with the times and technology without diluting its DNA. Steve Sutcliffe drives the 911 classic, 933 and 911 back on a snowy and slippery handling circuit at Silverstone

I bought my doctor's 1996 Iris Blue 993 C2, after HE had owned it for 10 yrs, with only 19, 000 miles. I've had it an additional 10yrs and now she has 56, 000. All I've done is change the oil, (various fluids too) and put fuel in it. Bullet proof 6-spd 'manny tranny' and, need I add. always a head-turner!

I must say, I do miss my 1991, 928. I could fold up wheelchair and fit it in the back. And there was lots of legroom in the passenger seat. Plus it was one of 25 manual transmission cars that was imported each year to the US. It was black with the gray interior. That thing ran on rails, even have 150 mph.

Why are they skipping generations? They go from the SWB car, skip the 930 and 964, and into the 993, and then they skip 996 and 997. What gives? Who makes a 50 years of 911 video, acknowledges there are seven generations, and only reviews three?

this review was shit. plain and simple. just a bunch of superlatives without any in depth information about each model. You jump around between models which make no sense at all.

Classic air-cooled Porsche all the way! I love how noisy, minimalistic and raw the original is. If I want comfort and safety then I buy a Nissan or VW instead.

Hey Autocar, would you mind giving me the name of the background music? It sounds so relaxing: , great reviews btw, keep up the good work!

Man I hope every vehicle was washed with proper car wash and hosed and cleaned underneath and blown dry before putting back in storage?

So. 7 generations. You really only talked about the Classic, 993, and 991 in any length and skipped the other ones pretty much.

If I'm honest all of them from the back remind me of a beetle but the original brilliant apart from da g series too much plastic

I have the 1973. 5 911 and this guy describes the feeling I have every time I run up the store and pick up a gallon of milk.
