The Jaguar XKR-S and Aston Martin V8 Vantage. Two British bruisers. Both cost around -100k. Both have big V8s under the hood. But which is best? Steve Sutcliffe finds out. Read the full Jaguar XK review - Read the full Aston Martin Vantage review

Slow ass Aston Martin V8 Vantage. If it aint a DB9 V12, a Vanquish, a ONE-77, or a V12 Vanquish. Your peace of shit V8 Vantage Will get Spanked By Damn near any Japanese car packing new Technology that don't even use a V8. and Don't even try to race American V8 cars with it unless you feel like crying to your mom about it, Cause PEOPLE ARE GOING TO WANT TO RACE THAT SLOW ASS V8 VANTAGE IF YOU'RE DRIVING IT! Cause the Aston Martin company suck at V8's. Their V12's are barely slightly faster. Moral of the story is don't embarrass yourself looking like a waste of money with a slow ass V8 Aston Martin cause everybody is just gonna laugh at you and the Joke that everybody refuse to see about over priced Aston Martin's will finally become a reality. I even Took my Jaguar XKR and spanked Ferrari's with it and made them want to trade cars with me LoL and im talking about they actually wanted to trade a FERRARI for my Jaguar!

-ultra888 Jag is supercharged. A V8 Vantage S would have been a better comparison due to closer price, but its not necessarily unfair. Remember this Vantage costs quite a bit less, has a better interior and outhandles the Jag. The acceleration comparison was done to show us the difference in low-down torque in the same gear between the 2 cars, not a full-on drag race, and there is no denying that the Jag just pulls faster - it's just a more powerful engine. I actually prefer the Vantage's powerband, which is more fun for driving imo.

I am so sad those new days Man can not buy beautifully engined cars with manual gearbox and clutch
That is the Most fun spec in rwdvsportscars
And i dont feel like i have full controll withouth clutch. No matter how god is automatic gearbox dtiver can fre feel car having manuall gb. And clutch
Aspeciali a good shifter like in porsche bmw or that corvettes in 2007 Z06 i beleive astons have properly god stick shifter because transaxle based transmition. I would compare thia two xcars with masserati gt

Im pretty sure that Jag is supercharged. That makes it an unfair comparison. Put a blower on the aston and see what happens. Also the jag is an automatic and aston is a 6 speed. He raced that Jag in 3rd gear which had the Aston lugging down the motor big time at that speed. Again, shit comparison. Throw the aston down in 2nd at least so it can get into its power zone. That is just not a fair shootout by any means. I have owned both of these cars so I know.

Old school, love Steve, what a driver, he just makes the Aston look superb. For my money though the Jag ticks all the boxes. I think My XF-S would give the Aston a close run though, not sure what the 0-60 is in the Vantage, but 3. 0 V6 petrol Jag with 340Bhp makes the XF a rapid car with modern day handling aids, perhaps a bit of a cheat over the AM. Ian Callum did a fantastic job with the lot of them though!

Both great looking and sounding cars, for me the Aston wins though. When all said and done, if you look back and you will look back, the Aston has the badge appeal and sitting in traffic, filling with fuel, sat in a car park or just driving down the road, the Aston will get the admiring looks over the Jag and that is as much about ownership as the driving is.

Thanks for explaining that to me. Now I understand why so many rare and exotic sports cars fail to appreciate in value over time. I'm glad I passed on the, still new, 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra in 1967 and went with the 427 corvette coupe I purchased for the same money. LOL I just hope you're not a fund analyst for me.

Id take the aston for the more fun high rev na engine and manual. Very ugly styling on the xkrs with the wing and extra plastic on the sides. It would be cool to have a regularly styled xk with the xkr-s engine.

Thanks for the review. Enjoyed it. IMO, Astons have never really been about straight line speed. They're about style and grace and how they make you feel. And they're still quick enough. I'll take the Vantage.

The Jag looks better than an Aston Martin in the Front. But the Aston looks better than the Jag from the rear. But if the Jag had F-type tail lights, I would say the Jag wins in looks
