Looking For AWD? The 2024 Kia Seltos Has The Lowest MSRP In America with AWD Standard

AWD Might be standard, but it's not on every Seltos. Say what? Yep, the lineup is complicated. Complex lineup aside, the Seltos is one of the best small SUV/CUVs in America. It's roomy, the turbo finally gets a real 8-speed automatic, fuel economy is solid and it has the best tech in the segment. In essence a customer has a decision to make: do you want features like the big screen LCD dash, power seats, and extra safety tech? Or do you want AWD? If you want both, then the Seltos isn't as inexpensive anymore but it's still a strong contender for the Crosstrek and CX-30.

Thanks for this comprehensive review. We have been looking for something slightly smaller than our CR-V, the HR-V is boring and underwhelming, Toyota dealers are playing pricing games thus eliminating the Corolla Cross, the Crosstrek was a serious contender but we re in AZ and have pets so the absence of rear seat vents (especially interesting for a car company that has dogs in many of their ads, and we had been considering the Niro for its interior dimensions and excellent fuel economy but alas no AWD (which our CR-V has) so now that you have reviewed the refreshed Seltos we are going to check it out. Thanks again

I love the 'stealth fighter' speaker grills.
My only two choices f the four are the Corolla Cross and the Seltos, and I list the CC first because of the 'hybrid option. .. . not a huge fan of the new HR-V, very been a fan of the Crosstrek; drove one & did not like the feel of the CVT and seats, and that reliability scares me. .. I know a lot of people with Crosstreks, a few swear by them, one swears by them despite issues with his CVT and the last one was left stranded on the freeway in his three year old Seltos wth something engine wise that was never properly explained to him. He is now in a Tuscon.

I'm actually intrigued by this new Seltos. And the fact it has ventilated seats is very unheard of in it's class. I love how Hyundai/Kia gives you technology driven features that make you feel like you bought a premium car without the premium price. I love the ambient lighting features as well. I don't think any of the competition has it, besides the upcoming new 2024 Kona. Now thats a vehicle I can't wait to see a review of! 10s across the board for the Kia Seltos!

MSRP is irrelevant for regular customers. All that really matters is OTD price. Kia dealers are horrible and average (don't comment if you don't understand the meaning of the word average) mark-ups and add-ons are among the highest. Average OTD price will be MUCH higher than Mazda and Subaru.
Edit: And if you want LED headlights or ACC you have to pay 31k+ MSRP for the Kia? Both features are standard on the cheapest base version of Mazda CX-30.

It is really sad that this small Kia SUV doesn't really get any better mpg than the Sorento.
Oh, the whole wireless CarPlay thing. If you read the CarPlay audio specifications, when operating wireless CarPlay, the bluetooth audio is switched to maximum audio compression, which can give you that 'jangle' of low bitrate audio files. But if you are just attached with Bluetooth audio, not CarPlay, you get a more modern compression.

And no towing capacity rating from KIA for USA models. That's sad for a SUV. Even Toyota has enough confidence in the Corolla Cross to give it a 2000 lb towing rating for USA models. If the manufacture won't rate it for towing no matter how small the lb rating is don't go to dealer for warranty work because your having a transmission problem with a trailer hitch installed on it.

Sticker prices haven t mattered in years. With dealer markups, rebates etc the price can change a lot. Dealers need to find ways to make expensive/fancy/luxury features cheaper. Prices are getting to crazy that dealers are even turning away shipments of new cars. With that said I like the seltos just wish it had the panoramic roof from the sportage.

Thanks for another comprehensive review.
Alex could you perhaps do a little video on insurance market issues in California and other specific insurer concerns re Kia/Hyundai? Are the immobilizer issue insurance rates ever gonna be resolved? Or will they continue for the indefinite future?

Usually cars look better in real life, however, im consistently surprised by how ugly these are in real life. Not quite Hyundai Venu levels of vomit, but close lol. They're other cuvs, telluride/sportage/sorento are all lookers though.

Probably my favorite crossover in the segment along with the hrv and cx30
All three of them have nice exteriors, high quality interiors, excellent fit / finish, great tech, lots of room great handling, etc

If you don't know the pricing of 24 Mazda CX-30 you can't say the Seltos has the lowest price. It makes no sense to say it has the lowest when the Mazda's could be lower.

Thanks for the comparison chart at the end. I hope to buy a corolla cross some day, this video was helpful to know the potential competition. Great stuff as always, Alex.

Why would anyone want ANY Kia? Besides, aren't they easily stolen? Do they charge extra for that feature or is it now a factory-included option?

One of the reasons I love your videos is that you provide practical critiques, like where to store the cargo cover 13: 20. I'm glad it fits down there too

The horrible fuel efficiency of the Seltos makes it a ridiculous choice, which is why so few people are buying it. Too many better options out there.
reply

Man, I wish the Seltos offered a sunroof as well as adaptive cruise control on lower trims and without having to get all-wheel drive.
