8: 18 when you talk about efficiency, can you throw a mi/kWh number on the screen, or whatever the industry-standard measurement of efficiency is Obviously this depends on tons of factors like speed, terrain, weather, and driving style, but an expected real-world number or whatever energy consumption you saw on your standard EV test route is would put the energy efficiency number into perspective. Once we have sufficient charging infrastructure in place for road trips, the number that will matter more is energy efficiency, not range. Just like we measure ICE vehicles not by the size of their gas tank, but by their mpg fuel economy.
Edit: just realized you threw in fuel economy at 26: 22. Would have been nice to have this number on screen at the same time as listing the battery range at 8: 18.

Yeah the 10-100% charging time is seriously understated. For our long road trips, it allows us to take various routes given that CCS is so spread out in some places. Also, thanks so much for pointing out the Kona. I am confused as well as to why they didn't slap that 800v battery in it. My only thought is the supplier for the current battery either gave them a super deal, or they had a ton of them in inventory. But man, the size of the Kona and the Niro are just perfect. I can't wait until those charge up super fast like my EV6. The Ioniq 6 is just too big for me. The EV6 is the biggest car I've ever owned.

Picked up a 24 SEL AWD last month. What a great daily driver!
Yes, no tax incentive, but Hyundai is lopping $7, 500 off the cost to remain competitive because of that. I was going to get a hybrid vehicle, but the cost for the Ioniq 6 got so close, I chose EV, instead. I was going to grab a 23, as they had even more incentives, but there was a stop sale due to a recall. Because of that, the dealer gave me even more off on a 24. My car’s MSRP was $50K and I got it for $39K.
Lots of car for that amount of money! It has so many great qualities, as Alex covered excellently, of course.

22: 47 - when i had an AWD Ioniq 6 SEL tester on those same 20's back a few weeks ago i recorded three 0-60 runs (back to back to back with Dragy) of 4. 65 secs, 4. 64 secs, and 4. 63 secs in Normal Mode. i actually forgot to switch into Sport Mode, but my SOC was over 95% so still pretty impressive. my 1/8th mile run area is fortunately less than 4 miles away from a newly upgraded EVGO station which allows me to come right off the pump with a perfect bit of cool down, at which point i brake hold, and let 'er rip.

Great review and video as always. Test drove one of these a couple of weeks ago. Absolutely loved it. Alex didn’t even touch on the fit and finish of this vehicle compared to a Tesla which is 100 times better than any Tesla product on the market today. Tesla makes a nice car, but they still have a ways to go when it comes to their build quality. What really puts them over the hump in most peoples opinion is their charging network but soon that won’t even be a factor. Hyundai and Kia are killing it.

Hey Alex, your issue with the bad charging recommendation is due to a bad design choice they made.
The nav determines the max charging on a trip to what you choose as the max charging in the charging menu.
So if you lower the DC charging to 80% or less in the other menu, you get much better recommendations.
But then when you get to a stop which goes a bit longer than you expect and the car stops charging at 80% when you could have had more. That just sucks.

I drove the Ioniq 6 and it was nice, but for the same price I could get a Model Y long range and native access to the Tesla Supercharger network. Has Hyundai started doing over-the-air updates on this vehicle yet Fast charging is great, but that only works if you find a Dc Fast Charger that is working and available, which is more of a challenge for non- NACS enabled vehicles.

I was set on the Model 3 when my car clonked out (hopefully not anytime soon) due to no other company really offering an actual car with good range and performance. But I’ll def consider this, the Model 3 & whatever other car is available at that time when it’s time to get a new ride. Wish it was a little smaller but beggars can be choosy, I guess.

What an amazing video! Really! So much info, so much comparisons, so many opinions not being biased.
I bought the Ionic 6 AWD ultimate package one week ago and I could not agree more with everything you said and it gives me joy to hear so many good things about the car I just bought!

What was the dB for the Ioniq 5 I can't seem to find them in your reviews but maybe I'm missing something. This was great! Thank you! And the 2025 Ioniq 5 is supposed to have better sound deadening and a bunch of other upgrades. I just bought the 2024 Limited RWD, so I missed those updates.

Wouldn't the rear wheel drive version be the only one anyone would need After all with the weight of the battery and the low center of gravity it would handle well in almost any weather conditions. I know that car companies like introducing EVs with AWD because they can charge more.

I like that you’re reviewing alternatives to the Model 3 and other family sedans. If we all only bought Toyotas, Hondas, and Teslas, then those carmakers will get greedy and charge sky high prices. I’m glad that Hyundai, Kia, Nissan etc are providing much needed competition

What are the chances of a Hyundai EV owner arriving at a charging station and a charger is available that is able to deliver 235 kW You are comparing the ride comfort of the old Model 3 vs Ioniq 6 and the old Model 3 interior. Get inside the most recent Model 3. Major differences.

Route 1 Hyundai in South Brunswick has one of these out front and center with big red '$10, 000 OFF' emblazoned across its side. Not sure if it's the fact that it's an EV OR it's nouveau Infiniti J30t styling. That said, such a markdown definitely caught my attention.

Electric is decades away from being normal. We cannot all drive electric and won't be able to for many years. The grid cannot yet support it. And is gasoline the problem No it isn't. I think it's plain looking. Like an audi from 20 years ago.

The Hyundai route planning software uses the driver’s selected maximum state of charge setting to determine how high to charge at each stop. If you set it to 80% it will always show going to that percent SOC. Not the best route planning.

Actually, the EPA requires you test in the default mode, and because of that, the Ioniq 5 and 6 and others cannot be tested in Eco mode as it is not the default. It's also why Tesla killed the option to have any control over regen recently.

Almost got one of these last month but decided on an Ioniq 5 Limited for only $300/mo, deal of the century! Also if you set the AC/DC max charge limits to 80% then the navigation route planner will give better/faster charging stops!

Every one should keep in mind all these range estimates are going from 100% to 0% soc. No one is going to do that. Most will go probably no less than 10% to no more than 80%. So using only 70% of the battery's capability.

I know you have to quote the sticker prices. However, at this time, the Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5, and the KIA EV6 are being offered with massive incentives that make them very compelling choices in the EV segment.
