Fall in the Sierras in 4K - Parker Lake Near Ansel Adams and Yosemite Parks Stephanie: Nice Thomas, I miss your perspective when you aren't able to join the group. Obviously being in California a weekend trip with the gang is just not gonna happen. BUT. this solo outing stuff is pretty cool. Especially with the variety of topography we have statewide. When you get the bug to hit the trail just go! And take us with you. Solo hiking/camping is very different. I've only done it a couple times myself. It's all fun and games hiking out, setting up with a campfire glowing enjoying dinner. Until -CRACK- you hear a twig snap in the darkness. I know my headlamp is not a magic beam of protection. I always forget how this part feels, lol. My reaction toss a little more wood on that fire! Fire Fire cuz predators don't like fire, right? Or if I get too freaked out I can always retreat to my -safe space- I've heard they're no match when nylon pairs up with flexible aluminum poles and the security of a double zipper! WHAT? HaHaHa Made it back home safely both times!

Cool video, fall may be my favorite season as well. Yesterday I went up the mountains to see fall colors myself. If you didn't know there is actually a secret aspen stand in Southern California off trail. The only one now since the larger and better known stand was burned down in 2015 and is still recovering. I found it yesterday and came out with excellent fall photos.
A much shorter drive to see excellent fall colors than going all the way to the Sierras. There are also a lot of black oaks, cottonwoods, and some sycamore trees with excellent color as well.

Thomas: With this film, you completed the transition from A. A. 's comedy relief to finding your own A. A. niche: the solo hike. Let's see some solo overnights. Pull out the Emersonian superlatives, accentuate the uniqueness of the backpacking solo experience, encourage others who are scarred (like me) to be brave and do it too. Tell us how, the precautions. Grab your much deserved spot in A. A. by utilizing your location more through the solo lens. Love the show, guys.

Great short video mr T. I often vacation alone in Tahoe, Yosemite and Yellowstone. you see everything in a much deeper way when you have nothing but what-s around to focus on. Although I love seeing the four of you guys enjoying each other-s company, I enjoy your solo hikes too.

Just did my first solo hike. Got up at 4: 30 am and drove for 2. 5 hours and hiked 10 miles round trip. It was actually amazing - I thought I would get lonely on the car trip but it wasn't bad at all. Very peaceful driving when it's still dark out and no traffic.

Thomas, great video, man! My brother and I fish in the lakes around June Lake Loop. That's a beautiful part of CA 395. I have yet to ski at Mammoth and one day soon I will. BTW that is one awesome Osprey pack and the color is sweet. Autumnal: )

Thomas we just drove down 395 from Virginia City, NV to San Diego. Fall colors everywhere down to Lone Pine. Every time we're in Lone Pine I look for you thinking you might be in the area. Love your videos. Keep up the good work

Solo, self reliance. I feel the same way. I did a solo hike this morning here in MN to take in the cool air and vibrant colors on the bluffs of the St. Croix river. Fall is my favorite as well. Thank you Thomas.

Awesome place. Awesome video. I recently drove 7 hrs solo to hike Zion. Funny I don't feel alone when I'm alone. I feel more alone when I'm not hiking alone.
