For this trip to Israel, my wife and I rented an apartment in Tel Aviv, Israel, and used it as our base to explore the region. From the outside, the neighborhood and buildings look a little old and run down, but on the inside, the apartment that we rented was superb. It was spacious, perfectly laid out, and what I especially loved, and I think you will too, is the outdoor terrace / balcony. The weather was perfect in July, a little warm in the sun, but in the shade on the ends of the day on the balcony it was amazing to sit outside. I hope you enjoyed this Tel Aviv apartment tour and that it gives you a glimpse into local living in Tel Aviv. I found Tel Aviv to be a very expensive city to live and travel in. I rented this apartment on Airbnb for $114 per night for a very short term stay, that's why it was expensive, but rent by the month can also be quite expensive in central Tel Aviv. In comparison to hotels in Tel Aviv though, for that amount of space, I found them to be quite expensive and in high demand as well. There are ways to get a 30% better apartment if you know how to look, but otherwise you are looking at a huge housing bubble and an unstable situation
in 2011 there was a huge, albit 90% impotent protest about costs of living, food costs have gone down since, but the apartments that were renting for 3900nis now go for 5000, wages have however also gone up by about as much depending on your field.

i know its an old video but i have to say it that u got duped paying 798$ for a whole week for a 1bedroom even if its fully furnished. its sad that some landlords here are really lying to tourist and new ppl who come to israel. for that price you couldhave rented a 3-4 bedroom apartment or a 2 bedroom house for a month. even hotels are cheaper per night than the deal u got: <

becuz a 1 week rent for a 1 bed room furnished even in telaviv would have cost you around 200$ for a whole week especilly in the old buildings that dont have elevators, becuz this is how pricing goes in here, old building have cheaper rent even with furniture.
ALSO IMPORTATN POINT: TAP WATER MIGHT BE CLEANER HERE THAN IN THE REST OF THE WORLD BUT IT STILL NOT RECCOMENDED TO DRINK FROM THE TAP xD

I have just seen this video, even though it's 2 years old. Just for info, most Israelis have a much higher standard of living in their homes. This apartment would be typical for a student/young person's home. Mark didn't mention if there was air conditioning, but it is standard here. Typical homes also have dishwashers and washing machines and dryers.

A single person working in Israel for an Israeli salary would never be able to afford such an apartment. I know because I lived in Israel during the 90s. Salaries in Israel are a joke considering the cost of living there. If you are going to be an expatriate, definitely pick another country.

Great video Mark. Did you also stay in this sort of lodging in Jerusalem. I've been told that Tel Aviv is much more expensive than Jerusalem, due to it being a resort city, is that true?

It's feels quite disappointed, even for someone like me who lives in a third world country. Narrow sidewalks, very run down and sad neighborhood. Everything looks old and dirty
