Along with Die Hard, the first Lethal Weapon is also a Christmas movie! The poor Murtaugh family gets their house virtually destroyed by the old CIA drug runners during Christmas. It's a darker film in that a lot of people go through issues during the holidays, and Riggs, who's a cop who lost his wife goes to work hoping someone will take him out, then goes home by himself and thinks about it, till he sees what a great family he really has with the Murtaugh's. BTW. the Murtaugh home, is also the Griswold's neighbor's home in Christmas Vacation.

I'm so happy to see that Home Alone, Christmas Vacation, and the Grinch all made the list. Another movie I love is Meet Me in St. Louis, though it's technically more of a year-round movie than a Christmas movie. However, the winter segment (which is set around Christmas) is my favorite part of this movie, and It's also worth noting that the song Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas was written for this movie. Also, Judy Garland is one of my favorite actresses from the Old Hollywood days.

My all time favorite Christmas movie has to be The Santa Clause. It has the perfect balance of charm and humor, and it's very nostalgic to look back on the early 90s. It's a really underrated film partly because the sequels were so awful, but to me no Christmas is complete without Tim Allen. We usually end up watching Christmas with the Kranks too!

My favorite Christmas movie is The Polar Express, even though the animated characters are a bit creepy. I just love the story behind it and I get choked up at the end. Having Tom Hanks in it playing a bunch of the characters doesn't hurt my feelings either. Loved your picks too, except. I have never seen Die Hard. Merry Christmas!

The movie flopped at the box office and was a money loser. The copyright was not renewed and expired in 1974. Now in the public domain, it was resurrected by various TV stations 'cause it was FREE, and the movie took on a new life.

I like Christmas with the Kranks and Tim Allens Xmas movies too. And yes, Die Hard IS a Xmas movie lol
In my house, since a few years ago, we started binge watching all the Rocky movies during the Holidays too, idk why but it has become our tradition: )

Great ideas! I have been watching a Christmas movie a day. And funny you mention Hallmark movies, I have them playing in the background, but not really watching them I actually went to see the Nightmare Before Christmas at the theatre. Love Christmas!

I finally watched It's A Wonderful Life last night largely due to the recommendation of The Critical Drinker. I had written it off as a sappy Christmas movie, but it turned out to be pretty good.
Also, Lethal Weapon is a Christmas movie, too.

People's mores/values have changed since some of these movies were made, with the most problematic one being Holiday Inn. I think most people will know what I mean. The other movies are pretty good choices (but everybody is so white.
