I was so homesick for the NE and the Cape was like moving to another planet, including the people I encountered.
If you’re a female and breathing then prepare to be aggressively hit on by men everywhere you go.
At least that was the experience of my sisters and I, who never seen anything like it before, and I may never see it again (hopefully.
I dated a local who was a totally dysfunctional and abusive person and my sister is currently with a local of the same personality type. I know there are people like that everywhere, but what are the odds that you meet more than your share in one place
My two younger sisters attended the high schools and the culture shock wasa shock. Going from a sleepy small town with values to whatever the Cape is makes you need some therapy afterward.
One sister who had attended that high school moved back up north and said she will never move back to Cape Coral. It basically ruined the whole state for her.
The only redeeming quality in that area was Sanibel and Captiva Island.
Once I moved to Orlando some years later I started to actually enjoy living in Florida.
I have one sister still living in the Cape and the last time I and my family visited we stayed in Naples

Don't mean to burst your bubbLe but I lived all over the USA and I live in SW Florida strictly for work and I hate it, it feels like you are driving in a Flintstones episode, it's an endless loop of same trees, same scenery, mosquitos and alligators and the drivers are rude as hell, road rage is out of control, I start work at 6: 30AM and I leave the house At 4: 55AM just to avoid all the assholes on the road and god forbid I leave 10 or 15 minutes later I will have a bunch of animals tailgating me and wanting to run me of the road, I guess even 20 miles per hour over the speed limit is not enough. They want to go 70 or 80 miles per hour on a 55 MPH zone oh! and overpopulation is a problem, a lot of new Yorkers and Puerto Ricans come here because is cheap and they think they can do whatever the hell they want, they are rude and have no respect for anybody or anything. Can't wait to sell my house and get the hell out of this shit hole. Oh! and by the way the beaches are nothing to brag home about unless you like dirty water then you will be OK. In my opinion this is the most overrated place on earth.

Leheigh Acres is turning into chicago little 9yr old color kids are runing around with 9mm guns thinking there cool seen first hand pizza guys being robed and killed by 16yr olds home invasions used to be great place down here but i guess stil better than where these people are coming from but there the reason its get bad at the same time

LIved down there in the late '80s, in Estero, south of San Carlos, before all the all building and I-75 was completed. It was a beautiful place to live at the time, not crowded. There were lots of open lands, which isn't the case any longer, an old bar at Estero called the Shipwreck, was a great place to unwind. Sanibel and Captiva were just beginning to grow, Cape Coral wasn't anywhere as big as it is now, and use to have greyhound races in Bonita Springs, which I assume isn't there any longer since they didn't mention it in the video. I guess all things change, and sometimes not for the better.

His wife, Diana had an ice cream shop at FMB, called Strawberry Corner. Ahh, the memories. Pure paradise! My home away from home. Thank you, great video!

If your child is under 18 theres no reason for them to be out after 10-11 pm after that there just getting in trouble nothings open but bars and 7-11 's lots of car break in's by kids between 14-18yrs olds my cars been hit around 20 times in past 2 yrs. now i only have small tools in it. There after phones, money, and guns control your children people $orry to be the fun sponge just like to be honest

The most professional presentation of different parts of this beautiful country. Since I was watched many, many years ago Cousteau and his amazing report of the places on Earth, and reading the report of Alexandru Vlahuta, Picturesque Romania which I recommend to read I never saw such a very made report. Had to revisit this video to remind me how beautiful this area looked like before hurricane Ian. I know it will be restored in time but my heart goes out to all those folks who lost loved ones, property, and their memories. Blessings to those who persevere through this disaster.

My town I’m from New York owning a vacation home there for the last 22yrs I haven’t regret anything I enjoyed my city am happy that I build my house in Cape Coral is like it small island w everything you can ask, so am very blessed to be in here every summer!

Too hot and full of bugs, plus it's a steam-bath for half the year. Others might not mind, but it's not for me. If that monster glacier breaks free in Antarctica, Cape Coral, and much of everything else, will be underwater. There goes the neighborhood.

I've lived in this area since 1961. It has gone from great to horrible. The traffic sucks, people are rude and infrastructure is 20 years behind.
If I were you I'd think twice before vacationing here and 3 times before moving here. Just sayin'.

you do not want to move here, poisonous snakes, scorpions, black widow spiders, sharks, roaches as big as fingers, huge rats. not to mention the heat and humidity are terrible . please do yourself a favor and stay away

Grossly over advertised and deceitfully so. We just moved OUT of Lee County. All three of these cities are so crowded Nov thru April you can barely turn around and the Snow Birds are the rudest people alive.

Fort Meyers Beach is just a Porta-Pottie and a Taco Stand now. But with a metal detector, you can still find tons of roofing nails.
