m going to answer the question of whether or not I believe this body fat reading to be accurate, and even more importantly, healthy for a competitive athlete. When you initially look at D. K. you realize that he is certainly in incredible shape. He has a level of muscularity not often seen in other wide receivers and nobody would argue he has low body fat levels. The question is, whether they are to be believed to be at such an incredibly low level such as 1. 6 percent fat. When you consider the preferred method of testing in the NFL Combine it becomes apparent quite quickly that the reported number is likely not accurate. You see, the combines have been using the Bod Pod to determine body fat levels for almost 13 years now. This form of fat analysis relies on volume displacement of air (very similar to the underwater testing being a volumetric measurement of water displacement. The data is collected and the body fat level is determined by a serious of mathematical calculations, not actual limb by limb measurements. The accuracy of these readings can error by as much as 5 percent body fat. When you consider that this could apply to the measurements Metcalf received you realize that this could take his body fat levels all the way up to between a six and seven percent fat. Just this season, the NFL started to use the DEXA scan as an additional measurement of body fat in the competing athletes. While more accurate due to the data being determined by a series of specific measurements, there is still a margin of error here and the data is more comprehensive making it more diffitcult to easily spit out a quick answer. To this point, this in depth analysis is privy only to the scouting departments of these teams and the media does not have access to them. Regardless of the actual validity of the number, what should be more concerning to you is whether or not this low a body fat level is even desirable. Some may not like the way it looks aesthetically, but I-m not going to get into that since that is due to personal preferences. Instead, we want to look at the science of this type of body fat level and the medical concerns with being this low. It is not uncommon for people at less than 5 percent body fat to have negative hormonal implications, impacting their testosterone levels and their virility. Beyond that however, the function of the brain can be incredibly impaired. Brain fog, confusion, and lack of concentration are all risks of carrying too low of a body fat level that definitely don-t mix well with being a high performing athlete. Add in the high risk of joint injury that occurs from having poor lubrication of the joints at too low of body fat level and you have the recipe for a disaster. The key is to maintain fat in the 8 to 12 percent range to allow for maximum performance without having to risk getting too low in the pursuit of it. If you-re looking for a complete meal plan and workout program that will help you to get to these levels of body fat safely and keep you there long term, head to the link below and

Jeff, can I just tell you how much I ADORE your training approach? As a dance teacher and fitness buff, hearing someone talk about working in more than one plane, how extreme conditions aren-t healthy in the long term, and all the rest of the various aspects of one-s physical condition that play I to health and fitness. well, I-m filled with joy. I-ve heard many of these things over the years as a matter of course from many dance teachers over the years, but rarely if ever from fitness folks, and I am so glad to hear you emphasize them for the responsible fitness enthusiast. Thank you so much!

Munzer kept his body fat low and body -stage ready- all year long. Due to the -gear- he consumed, what I understand he died from a undetected bleeding ulcer. Sad.
For wrestling in junior high, out coach used the calipers to check body fat. I was told I was at 3%. I was 13 years old, I didn-t eat -clean- like an elite athlete. So in my head I chuckled. I figured I was closer to 8-10%

Not hating at all he obviously looks great but he is not even 5 or 6%. I went to school for this stuff and I body build he would have way more definition everywhere and his abs would be leaner and more V shape and his face would be caving in if he was even 5% or less. He is about 7 to 8%.

When I competed in track in college we did regular body fat measurements (impedance systems. Invariably, I ran my best times between 3. 5-4. 5%. When I fell below 2. 5% I got sick, at one point including walking pneumonia that kept me out of practice for a month.

For your average genetic freak like him, tyreek, and the other. 02% of humanity that low of body fat isn-t that bad. Not fun but do-able. For the the other 99. 8% of humans, to obtain that, you would literally have to be going through starvation to do so

Bodyfat below 10% is neither healthy nor sustainable. 10 to 12% is perfect. And to the everyday person will look very impressive. I dont know where these obsessions come from about bodyfat being so low.
Its very bad thinking. Very bad.

The only problem with the drafting thing and I do agree with the point I just disagree with the method, is that you showed us receiver stats not QB stats, your point is still valid (just look at russel Wilson and yes Tom Brady)
reply

Only two of the stats you showed for Brady were relevant to his position, and those were the two you said he was actually pretty good on. This isn't about -intangibles- lol. It's just about relevancy to the position
reply

I didn-t know the position u were saying - my defensive end better be pressing weight I don-t want too be blitzing with him if he ain-t but if my qb don-t bench that-s fine but Tom is one and life time gem

PED users should have their own category to compete, as who doesn't wanna see the 100 meters sprinted in a few seconds, so long as all participants involved in the sport have it equal, game on -
