Hello from Denmark: )
So I want to know if my checklist is good, or missing anything. Could you please share your thoughts?
Thank you very much and great video mate.
1. Scalpula ahead of the bar-
2. The bar is right placed right above the middle of your foot-
3. Chest pushed outward, ensuring a straight line through your spine. -
4. Knees are bent, but not too low so you are squatting-
5. Elbows are locked-
Right before the heavy lift: -
6. Activation of Glutes (your buttcheeks are closed tightly together) -
7. Activation of Lats (You push your arms into your armpits) -
8. Take a deep breath and hold it! -
9. Push your heels through the ground-
10. Pull your back up while pushing hips forward.

I see so many people who eventually sprain or permanently injure their lower back doing deadlifts heavy. I dont understand why peope keep riding the deadlift train? Its not really going to get you that much bigger. If I was going to train my lower back I would go allot lighter and do allot higher reps. I totaly admire this guys drivem attitude and service but watching him lift its amazes me his lower back doesnt eventually give out. No offense he is going to have some horrible lower back issues some day. I am sure he has been through allot and your afraid to tell him, but if I was his friend I would, I would just do it in a nice kindly fashion. Not telling him is just as cruel.

I refuse to call any movement accessory, I will never understand this mentality. I watch allot of powerlifters train, I know of two former world class powerlifters Jim Cash and Larry Pacifico. Both of these champs are riddled with injuries. Jim has terrible knee issues. Both of them have terribe joints. I DO NOT recommend powerlifting at all. I wish I never would have done it. Yes it did add some size and allot of strength but if I factor in the nagging injuries and permanent injuries its just not worth it. Your better off going medium heavy not hitting some ego boosting nonsense.

Great video-thanks. Oddly only started deadlifting last week and can tell my weak spots-all of it. All these 3 I will start doing. I think I had a small knot in lower back due to bad form, but thankfully it popped today when I was indoor climbing. I always thought I had a strong back as former bodybuilder and climber, but as always, true strength only comes after a lot of practice and efficient technique. Thanks for your service. Semper Fi & Ductus Exemplo-I served too as Mustang Captain desert shield/storm and before it got insanely intense in South East Asia.

Jeff thanks for all the knowledge bro! I have been working out off and on since I the age of 12. I have played football in middle and high school and joined the Marines. And sir I must say that your advice with little lifts transitioning to the major lifts is key in my workouts. I have been seeing increases in all the major lifts every week. I'm actually training for the NFL while getting in position for a minor league team to work on my skills. I just wanted to say thanks man. I really appreciate what you are doing. Keep up the great work!

I have a question. Is the deadlift technique different on deadlift for tall and short people? When you see Strongmen deadlift, they almost squat the first part of the lift up. When you see this guy deadlift, he barely bends the knees. I know Jeff isn't very tall (173cm according to google, so this guy must be 180 tops.
Is this what enables them to not -squat- the weight up in a deadlift? To keep the hips high throughout the entire lift, instead of having their hips low like you see most strongmen do.

I deadlifted 315 my last year of highschool and rarely trained deadlift. It's been one year since then. I've been running the mad cow 5x5 program and have progressed on everything except for deadlift. My bench went from 205 to 275, squat 225 to 335, and my deadlift from 315 only to around 335. I deadlift once a week and squat 3x a week and my deadlift strength always feels the same. I'll add in some of these to my training but has anyone else have this happen?

8: 11 The greatest tips of all time from Athlean-X. Will do this even as a warm-up/preparation before a real deadlift session now to engage the lats and make them -fire- in the right way in the following proper deadlifts!
Kind of what was part of some earlier -primer- video about deadlifts that Jeff did a couple of years ago! But with a stick only.
Jeff is dead on, on this one! It's gonna give deads a lift from now on! -

You don-t usually hear much about the importance of upper back training to bring up the deadlift in comparison to other accessory lifts (ie. Stiff Leg Deads, Deficit Deads, Squats, Romanian Deads, Good Mornings, etc. So this is a great fresh perspective on things! Also Dmitri Klokov was talking about how one of the weakest set of muscles in most people is the Upper Back. Thank you!

Great video here, Jeff. Can't thank you enough. I just have a quick one. My grip tendsto give out before my back does when doing the deadlift. Is there any accessory exercise I could do to increase my grip strength so I don't end up leaving gains on the table? Thanks in advance.
