find out the areas which are beyond the color gamut supported by your printer Diane: This video was a lifesaver. I had a file that i bought for a client and it would not print no where near the colors shown. I wasted almost a whole thing of ink. This was so easy i could kick myself for not coming here first. Thank you for saving the day and restoring mine sanity, i knew the color was out of range, but even when i changed it down it didnt fix it, but using it this way with the hue saturation was a perfect fix and the color is very very close still to the orginial look of the color the designer of file had that my client loved. never had this happen before. now i know how to fix in the future. Thank you so much!

I use a printing company and they told me my colors were out of gamut and sent me an old tutorial on how to fix it. So far this has worked for me until recently. I have a nice photo that I want to print and it was out of gamut in certain areas and I could not fix it using the method I was told, It was very frustrating because I love this photo and really want to print it. Bro! You have no idea how much I needed this video right now. And bonus! you give us a link to another tutorial as well. I can't wait to make my photo printer friendly. Thank you so much. You have taught me many things in Photoshop!

I just don't understand how I see these prints on metal or any medium and they are so vibrant and colorful. How are these people getting these printed? I have a beautiful landscape of a lake with green trees and blue sky and the out of gamut is EVERYWHERE and I have to basically turn it to a black and white to get rid of it. I just don't understand how these guy's are getting these vibrant colors printed and mine are always so far out of gamut that it's impossible to make them look decent for printing. Ugh it's so frustrating!

Thank you. I work with print a lot. For me, in the early stages of a project, its a good idea to convert a copy to Cmyk, before sending a proposal to a client. Clients tend to see what is on their screen as the final printing version, and if the colours are off at the end, you have a problem. That way, they are always seeing an more accurate preview of the printing final work.

Is there any way to correct them if we want to check the gamut warning now and save it for printing later? I mean, are those options available only when the system is connected to the printer? Because, I don't have a printer and I have to print it in a shop. So, is it possible to check the warning ignoring the printer's connection or model?

Hi Sir! I've been watching your videos since you only have 20k subs. I learn a lot from you and now I got my job as a graphic designer and I just wanna tell you that you are a part from it, and also now you upload this useful video! Thank you so much! It will help me in my production! Thank you million times!

The RED makes this method work readily. The RED curve target the red lips - what about different colors with a general mix of Red, Green, and Blue? Would this method work just as well? Could you demonstrate the same technique using a less pure color, one that has a mix of RGB components?

Excellent info but now I am more confused because of the info I am already receiving. Maybe it's just because of my lack of knowledge in color profiles and ect.
I need to get my prints to match what is on the monitor. Windows PC. Epson. How do I need to set up my settings?

If parts of the image are beyond the gamut of the printer, what does it print in those areas instead? Surely it would just print the 'nearest' colour that is in gamut, effectively doing exactly what the process of editing as in this video accomplishes?

nice tuto. what about the test proofing in lightroom or camera raw? I have a epson SC-P600 and use ilford smooth pearl or gloss but have lot of differences with my calibrated display under lightroom and can't fix it (200 euros philips however.

Hi UNMESH! I have been following you since one year, and really I've never been disappointed. Your work is so amazing and I congratulate you a lot! Can you please explain in a tutorial how to convert an 75 ppp image to 300ppp in photoshop?

What is the advantage of this compared to copy and pasting into a document with the destination colour profile? Does photoshop treat out of gamut areas on pixel basis when it converts, or does it to a global change to the image?

My printer requires swop v2 and 240% ink density. Do I adjust in rgb first then convert to profile? If so how would I know above 240 warnings? Thank you for all your insightful videos, they help tremendously.

Thanks for the video Unmesh. If the area of color is out of the printers range what happens to that area? Does it get filled by the nearest color or does it automatically change the saturation?
reply

No it did not answer my question so please make another tutorial on that as I print at my office on inkjet printer not CMYK mode rather RGB mode. How you do all this with those printer.

PrePress is a world full of wonders and joy! It's nearly impossible to name all of the funny things that printers can do to your images. Amazing! Happy, fail, joy, fail.

Wow. If I'd had known this earlier I'd have more hair left on my head. I've pulled a bunch out trying to get printouts to look like what I created on-screen. Thank you Unmesh!
