I really appreciate your teaching the capabilities of the basic tools in photoshop and how they work. I just see things in an entirely different paradigm once discovering the power of HSB and HWB Color extractions of images and working directly on the divisions of the Hues themselves. I really don't see anywhere that people use a similar approach, I call it using Chromaticity Masks - but it is just a different approach and a new world opens up. Instead of just working with the Highlights and Shadows of the entire image. you can get into the Hues, Tints, Shades, Midtones, and more, and directly control the actual tones that make up the image. Your teaching and understanding of Photoshop and the tools it has available is wonderful, but this is where we are limited, by the program itself not giving us access to what are some basic components of the exact color tones in the image. My technique is to split the image into various levels of the Hues, Tones, and Greys, then re-build it as layers that are colorized, which gives immediate control over changing those colors around. I think it is a very powerful technique that should be explored more.

Your videos are epic! One question though, probably only you could explain in some logical manner - why has photoshop everything doubled? Is there some hidden point - I mean, almost everything you can do by all these single photoshop tools you are able to do in photoshop but by using camera raw plugin (which is standard plugin in PS now. what is the advantage of all it? Do we really need all these tools in many variants when in CRaw everything is sorted and with much more modern and logical ways of use? Thank you very much if you could find some time and give some short but logical explanation.

Thanks. Never knew this existed. In real estate photography often the fronts of houses are backlite. flashes only do so much in daylight so I am going to give this a try.

Brilliant. This and the hue/saturation dodge and burn worked wonders, especially woodland shots. Cant wait for autumn leaves

Wait, so would this be something we wouldn't be adjusting at all in camera raw? Or is this more of a fine tune adjustment?

As usual a great tutorial. I use shadows and highlights all the time but did not know that it was that good. thank you.
