since each group of cores is literally a different chiplet. surely with this new chiplet design there is a way to overclock each chiplet differently, different voltages etc. as one chiplet could be a really good performer and one holding the rest back. maybe that sort of thing would require dedicated hardware on the motherboard along with a new socket, specifically designed vrm's etc though. i have no idea what im talking about, but just imagine the possibilities. the true untapped power these cpu's could have.

I think with Ryzen what you get written on the box is best case scenario I 2700x and 3. 5 on my CLC is almost unattainable I get there for the odd run then it cops out so 4. 6 on the 12 core I'd say will be the same your not gonna run it like that all day so a 16 core probably gonna be a touch lower but all in all with the ipc does it even need those anywhere need them speeds its a huge jump I'm on track for one of those 9 regardless if i get 4. 2 out of it I'll be happy.

Those shows really grind you down, I think it is mostly from sensory overload and your brain doesn't get a chance sort out all the info. There is all the things you need to see and then those you want to see all the questions you have and new ones that come up, Then all the things others tell you about. Oh, and the nightly after show functions, off site presentations, slipping into restricted areas/demos. Boy, I miss that stuff.

If the all core overclock is anywhere close to 4, 2GHz with reasonable max 1, 45V Vcore then that means that when compared to 1st gen Ryzen 1, 15x because of 15% IPC uplift the chip is equivalent to 4, 85GHz overclock and that's on 16 cores. In terms of Intel we are talking about -4, 7GHz clockspeed, but with double the cores so that's very impressive.

Can someone explain to me the 16% IPC gains. For exemple, if I have a last gen 8 core running at 4. 2 ghz. Does that mean that 3rd gen ryzen with 8 cores and 4. 2 ghz speed would be 16% faster still even tho they would be running the same # of cores and core speed? Or is it calculated differently?

if the 12 cores has 4. 6 boost, I'm pretty sure the 16 will reach at least that, also back in the skylake days 1. 4 volts was extreme, while is normal for ryzen 1, given we are in 7nm tsmc and not global foundries. Its pretty much guaranted that more volts will be on the normal avenue.

500$ 12 core is already too close to what could cost threadripper. I think they will wait for intel to counteract, then, they will lower the prices on all ryzen and release a 16 cores for 500$.

Just think if it OC's to 4. 1GHZ or 4. 2GHZ all core is standard OC on these new 3xxx chips then with the 15% IPC it's more like 4. 7GHZ to 4. 8GHZ in Intel 8700 / 9900 speeds!
