Glad to see the non x parts. Not everybody is a gamer. I just built a Ryzen 5 5600 G this week, a cheap B450 board, 32 Gigs of 3600 Ram. and a 500 Gig gen 3 NVME SSD. I did my overclocking way back when, even fried a board. Now old 63, I just needed a build that has stability, and won't crash. I also use a mac mini M1 , and they share files over the network. At these crazy prices, most people are gonna by a cheap laptop. The old hobbyists like me will not spend 900.00 plus for parts for a mid level machine.

About the RTX laptop naming, all they need to do is add something that makes it clear it's a mobile part. It would be even better if they differentiated cards with different power levels. Even for enthusiasts, it's impossible to tell the performance difference just by name with mobile Nvidia parts. AMD situation is a bit the same, but they do have a clear name that tells it's going to be a different class of card than just using the desktop name.

Yeah IDK. Thinking that a 4090 Desktop and Laptop SKU will operate equivalently is illustrative of a total lack of understanding about power envelopes and thermal constraints.
I guess the upside is that anyone who thinks they are the same will be the type of person to not notice the performance differences. Dad just bought the laptop for them and they will mostly brag about it having a 4090 to their schoolmates.

A few years ago, a friend of mine asked for my help because he couldn't figure out how to install a ram upgrade in his laptop. The problem turned out to be that he had bought full-size desktop DDR4 DIMMs. So yes, plenty of people are going to read this laptop has a 4090 in it and assume it has the same performance as a real 4090. Even Intel gives their mobile and desktop parts different names.

I think it's amazing how much people should be ok with their 1000 being taken without getting what they paid for. It's also amazing that AMD is the sole company that folks find meditation circles to discover ways for accepting whatever bs they put out. Oh whoa is AMD, they are just a small multi-billion dollar company. They couldn't possibly do better by the consumer.

Gordon, we got a lot of 110C bad batch XTX cards in Canada. I bought mine on Dec. 19th from Canada Computers. I have been running two main threads on this issue on Reddit since December 20, including the orientation testing (Dec. 20th). German forums were among the first to test this and start reporting more coherently, but the bad batches are very much spread out.

I am running a 6800XT and my driver's are 22.11.2 and all is well.. I haven't had an issue with Radeon since it was ATI really. And, I had an RX480 before the 6800XT and no problems for over 6 years with the RX480 either, it's still going strong in my old Rig..

Gordon Ung I'm sure I said something about the airflow, but I always have, and always will go full autist if anything is designed with poor cooling. At least I'm predictable.

For the future please tweak the compressor / noise suppression / whatever on the bearded guy's mic, it seems to eat his words whenever he talks a bit too quietly.

The lastest drivers for AMD are for 7000 series . I think people blindly installed it on 6000 series. Read the Notre people
