My gut feeling is that the RTX 2060 was originally not part of Nvidia's plans but then with AMD suggesting they will not do ray tracing until it is affordable across their entire GPU SKUs, Nvidia may have found it strategically important to show that Turing/RTX which is really a cut down Volta+/- is already affordable or very near affordable. This would explain why -AdoreTV's technical details of the leaks look like they are on the money but the release timing and naming seemed off. This idea of Nvidia's strategic placement/release of the RTX 2060, despite not being in their original plans and therefore not leaked, would be especially genius and shrewd from a business standpoint if the rumors about AMD Navi RX 3080 going to market at around $300 and giving vega 64+15% or RTX 2070 performance is true.
Also if true then the next BIG thing to be expected from AMD would be the architecture that replaces the Vega architecture. The performance of the RX 3080 would be too close to that of the Radeon VII at under half the price to be released anytime before Q3 and would mean an better GPU would need to be released into the market segment buying Radeon VII GPUs.

Good show.
Super x-fi for $150? I haven't bought a sound blaster card or any audio card in quite a few years. By now though I thought they would all be no more than fifty bucks. What revolutionary technology do they have in them to warrant that price? Spatial sounds? I've been doing that with my Corsair headsets and my sound blaster headsets on wireless with the software that comes with them.
And people are complaining about the price of Nvidia cards and they actually have new technology.
As far as the GTX 1160ti if that's what it's going to be called: I think that Nvidia should price that about $200 to $225. And then release the regular GTX 1160 at about $150-$175. And if they do release a GTX 1150 that should be about $100 to $125. I don't care either way but if I was Jensen or whoever decides the prices at Nvidia that's what I would do. Make AMD sweat at their own game.

so nvidia know that amd wont have cards out for a while. when they finally do land the the 20 series will be about the same price as the 10 series settled into. about 250-300 for a 2060 and 400 or so for a 2070 and about 500 for a 2080. but until then nvidia will put out the 1660 as the 1060 replacement and buy some time till amd drops navi and then they will just drop prices. by then they will have made enough off of overpriced 20 series cards that they can sell the larger dies of the 20 series for the same price as the old 10 series. its like they released rtx early to anybody that was willing to pay way too much. but in 6 months the prices will be where they are supposed to be. then 7nm or 8nm samsung gpus will come in 2020

Adam, Gordon and Brad: would the Super X-Fi be worth it for users of not-so-expensive headphones? I currently use an Edifier W830BT which cost me $60 on sale ($70 regular. It's impedance is 24 Ohms. I'm excited about the tech but afraid my headphones aren't good enough to hear the difference. Cheers. :) (Edit: 35: 17 touches on this question a bit. But it's hard to draw the line on what a -bad- set of headphones is)
Edit 2: I have a 5. 1 setup (powered by a Denon receiver) so I do appreciate good audio. But that setup is for movies. On the PC, I game on a 23- 1080p monitor and headphones at night. -

HEY Snakeoil Salemen.
The Super X-Fi sounds like CRAP!
The samples available on youtube are pure garbage and they sound like a total waste of money
Big Question >
If the Super X-Fi is so great, why are there no decent samples of the audio on Youtube
You could EASILY make 5 - 10 identical audio samples for 5 - 10 different ears
The headphone differences are not important as they can be equalized quickly and reliably
Stop telling us how great they are and show us what they can REALLY do

TorGuard is an excellent VPN, performance drops are less than 10% (really not enough to make you care, unlike PIA which was terrible taking away more than 80% my net speeds) -- It is more expensive but you get what you pay for. I have been very happy with it and I was pretty unhappy with PIA when I used it for a year or so.

I find it so funny when these nerds talk movies, they think they are so up to date. Most of the films they reference, they are checking out second hand. a kin to going to second run dollar theaters. semi snobbish and critical. so quick to hate critic based on website ratings. ho hum. stick to the tech.

Mr.
Adam, Gordon and Brad: how do you compare X-FI Surround sound in video games compared with Sennheiser GSX1000 USB DAC that has virtual surround sound [its basically works just like x-fi in the windows, you choose 7. 1 in the settings and go play game and watch movies]
