Should I Open Source My App - Brax. Me? - Rob Braxman Tech
video description
The trick is choosing the best software license for your needs, and making sure you release your program when you-re confident in the code being studied and audited by others. If the program is of significant size, open sourcing a program is no small undertaking. I hope people are patient and understanding in this regard.
I-m especially glad that you specifically mentioned the pseudo-anonymity and encryption aspects of your app!
This is great news for privacy. I really enjoy checking out and supporting open-source privacy software. Thank you!

There's a LONG HISTORY of companies trying to make money on Free Software. Some have a modicum of success; many, many just crash and burn. I think you should read up on it, because I think it would be very informative to you.
You should also read up on the ideological differences between -Free Software- and -Open Source. -
While some find this difference rather pedantic, I find it rather important. To me, Free Software is all about freedom, primarily the freedom of the user. Open Source is all about having fun as a programmer, creating a useful community of coders, and creating cool software.
There's more than enough Cool Software out there. There's hardly any Freedom.

Yes you should, licensing is good for income, but it can also compromise privacy, also the Linux community trusts opensource programs more then non-opensource programs, and your work can help other projects that are privacy focused, especially since pure Linux smartphones are starting to come out at affordable prices, for once.
Their are also pure Linux smartphone images for phones as well at this point as well.

I love your openness and honesty. I would have trusted you without opensourcing it (80% at least atm by content alone, as I'm new here -) either way. This move shows commitment and I'm sure it will build trust for anything you do in the future (that may or may not be opensource.
Thanks for all your hard work - happy holidays!

Rob everything you can do with Linux can be done on FreeBSD or OpenBSD and with more privacy. Why do you push Systemd on people lol. You have to get that penguin off your back.
But you do have 98% of what say being right. Just get that flightless bird off your back Rob.
PS thanks for FOSS in' your software. ;)

Open source is the only way to know something is secure. Open source is free r&d with enthusiasts involved. Open source gives a better possibility of the perpetuation of the app and better chance of community growth.
Bummer it hurts your income
Love the nexus 5 with Ubuntu touch btw.

I honestly need step by step instructions on how to implement security and more info on the products to purchase, I-m looking for a new laptop but I want it to be secure. I-ve watched some of your videos in this but I haven-t found any answers on if my purchase is guaranteed?

I image this was a tough decision. I hope it works to grow your platform! Brax. me is a unique island for folks who enjoy the social aspect of the Internet while eschewing the public -spotlight-. Have a great holiday season as yet another year draws to a close.

Wish you beat FB an insta and them crooks to market. The whole worlds already lost everything. No rights. No privacy. No justice. Nothing. open source always. open source is the future. humanity must collaborate to move forward and evolve, not horde and cower.
