Create a Virtual Hard Disk Using Your Host's Local Hard Drive in VMware Workstation - OnlineComputerTips Normally when you create a virtual disk in VMware Workstation you create an individual VMDK file that stores all of the files that are used within your operating system within that VMDK file. You also have the option to give VMware Workstation direct access to a local hard drive you have installed in your host computer. You can then have it use a certain partition or the entire hard drive and then you can use this drive with one of your virtual machines. When you detach that drive or shut down that VM then you will be able to see the files on that drive that were created on the VM from your host computer. Akash: quick question : can I use this physical drive (assume its a external hard disk) on an actual pc (physical PC) to run the installed OS.
