I went from FVWM to Window Maker to Enlightenment to Gnome (version 1 or whatever the heck ya called it). Good times, noodle salad. I bought a boxed Redhat distro bundle at Best Buy and it came with Gnome. I loved enlightenment on Slackware. Those were the days of getting my dial up modem working with ppp. Enlightenment was always perty looking and lightweight. Back on a 120 megahertz computer with 32 megs of ram, E16 cruised. I agree about openbox. The next window managers I dipped into were blackbox, fluxbox, and eventually openbox. All had a text based, mouse driven, menu that you cobbled together yourself via a text file. I wonder if those are still around. I shall go a'googlin. Hmm, I wonder if Gkrellm is still kicking? That would of made unix porn proud ;)

Have a realy old 32bit rig, AMD XP2000 cpu and one old Geforce 6800 (NV40) and 1GB ram.
This rig have some issues running most 32bit Linux distros:
- LMDE 4 use too much RAM - 720MB with no other programs running.
- Alt Linux - Crashes once I try to opens any windows in desktop, can't get it to work.
- Bunsenlabs - Runs realy good and is my goto OS on this rig, but have issues with screen resolution maxes out at 1024x768.
- Elive - Seems to work well and also get the full screen resolution (free drivers only). I'm actually installing it as writing this.

So glad you finally got around to playin with e16, it doesn't get enough love anymore. What really makes it shine (for me) though is tucked away in the -/.e16/bindings.cfg file. Add some XF86keys or even some xdotools to what's already in there and you couldn't be happier. Most of the window control is done either through hotkeys or hotkey+mouse actions. Customizing e16 menu files is super easy as well. I hope you enjoyed it, e16 has been my go-to wm for many many years now.

Hi Mr. DT! I wanted to switch from bash to z-shell in my Manjaro Linux pc terminal but by mistake I wrote -/ usr / bin / git-shell- instead of -/ bin / zsh-. After restart the terminal will not work at all. When I click to open the terminal, it starts up but quickly disappears. I have tried with other terminals but unfortunately it did not help to fix the problem. Please help me!-
With best regards

Ok. I have to admit. You got me on the -Best Linux Distro Ever- tag line. I had to click to find out just how good this thing was and to my surprise, it is quite intriguing. I do have nightmarish flashbacks in configuring all the cool Conky features but I really enjoyed the challenge back in the day. I may give this a download just to play with for old time sake. Thanks DT!

debian + enlightenment( e has tiling and regular, ) are there any better options? I do prefer moksha though. For my laptops I do run arch w/i3wm and moksha running on workspace 8. e16 must have way more themes than moksha and newer enlightenment versions, no?

I am curious to see DT playing with funtoo... needs time to compile all the stuff you need, but can be really tailored to taste and it runs really snappy. He gets so excited with some not mainstream stuff, I think he would like the challenge.

Looks like a great distro.
In my opinion they should go ahead and make an additional -minimal- iso without all these extra apps.
Most people (especially here in the west) do have a fast enough internet, and 2 gigs is nothing. But still.

I use the 32-bit version for an old Lenovo netbook and it works better than other 32-bit distros I installed on it, so it has become my distro of choice for that machine. And since I was happy with it, I didn't mind giving a donation.

Not for me, looks too much of a mish-mash of different themes and oddities put together. May have been cool in it's day but not so much today. It's nice with the low ram but I'll stick with i3wm, XFCE, Gnome, Mint, KDE.
