The can be only one reason why there can be people out there who insist in staying with Windows 7. Aero Glass. If it's all about aesthetics and they don't like the flat look of Windows 10, let them have Windows 7 so they can deal with security issues. I would do the same except I'm running Linux instead. If I were to be put in front of two computers running Windows 7 and 10, I would feel right at home with Windows 7. Sorry but that's just my preference. I'm not a big Microsoft user and I would blow Cortana out of smithereens. I'm as stubborn as Richard Stallman. He's into free software; I'm into Windows 7 and I would stay stubborn as long as I live.
But then, I'm running Linux with GNOME 3.32. GNOME, in place of Windows 7, is my place to call home.
What about macOS? Well, if only I can afford one as I'm about to get a job soon although I might lose hope due to lack of interview experience when it comes to answering -situational-awareness- questions about dealing with co-workers and all... I'm CompTIA A+ and Network+ certified and I'm trying to get my foot in the door in the field of IT. I only have two years left before I let my Network+ certification expire.

Mozilla have -Snippets- which have been used for ads once, but they got tons of backlash, but if left on, sometimes it'll show a message on the new tab saying a feature of Firefox or asking to donate. It's not in my way so I just turn it off. I'm pretty sure they use Pocket to monitize on the new tab too, but again, they give you the option to turn it off (which i do turn off). All the ways they monitize is very out of your way and I wouldn't know if they make money off of it or not.
Hot Take: Sue me but the 20%off hotel add snippet was actually not that bad of an idea. It's not tacky and it could've been turned off.

Why is Google's Stadia so important now? It's all over the place. Everyone seems to be talking about it. Google's Stadia is just a ripoff of Vortex Cloud Gaming in my opinion. I'd rather use Vortex than use Google Stadia. Oh. Wait. I am. LOL! But the thing about cloud gaming/streaming, is latency. It's dependent on YOUR network speeds. If you have crap net speed, gaming on Stadia, Vortex, you name it, will f'in suck. Just a heads up on that. Just because Tommy Joe has an amazing experience with cloud gaming, doesn't mean Juni Joy will.

Another thing, the GPL license. The BSDs are permissive with licensing the BSD code. You can build more open source code on top of that, you can build proprietary parts on top of that. That is what Apple did, the foundations of Mac OS 10 is Darwin, which is an open source kernel made by combining parts of FreeBSD and Mach. On top of the open source Darwin Apple made lots of proprietary parts and drivers, including Aqua, the graphic interface.

i've switched to linux because of slowness of windows, ease of development with c++ and customizability of linux desktop, i still havent worked out all issues but its ok, i dont really play games much anymore, some that i do are on linux already (factorio) so im ok with how it turned out, its a good os that i feel better using that windows just need to get a powerful enough pc and enable gpu passtrough for windows stuff when i need it and im done

Buying a new Computer just cause it won't run 100% free Software is extremly wasteful. While I agree, that more free Software is better, I think this all or nothing approach leads nowhere. It is better to have a person use some open source software on their windows computer than not installing them a new operating system at all. Open and closed source software will always have to coexist.

Mozilla would not have a problem making money if they did not kick Brendan Eich out. BAT would of made the kind of money Mozilla needs to fund its development. I disagree with Mr. Eich's private views from what I could tell he never acted on them in the work place. I use Thunderbird with Protonmail Bridge for Linux for email. Not sure if Geary will work with Protonmail.

Stadia will fail, open sourced software is designed to make money, Windows is a operating system and Linux is just an extension of its functionality, my laptop won-t run Linux would help if the FSF had a Free Hardware certificate I recommend anyone who wants to try Linux in the meantime run Windows 10 pro activate Hyper V and use the Ubuntu Hyper V quick install

Why the heck going to linux from win 7 is better than just staying on unsupported win7? If you want linux you have linux... If you need soft that requires win 10 and doesn't run on win 7 then you need win 10, linux is not an option here. Just switching from win 7 to linux without having linux experience is a suicide mission.

To those who use fsf approved distros, do you think that converting mp3 to ogg format would be considered ok to do in regards to the free software philosophy? I was wondering what you guys think about that because I know in order to decode the mp3 to ogg you gotta have the mp3 codec stuff right?
