I-ve been really impressed by all of the improvements coming out of the gnome camp. The performance enhancements have been incredible; particularly ram usage. If you haven-t used it for awhile then I highly suggest a second look. Canonical has also done a nice job back porting a lot of these performance enhancements to Ubuntu 18.04 even though it-s on Gnome 3.28.

First time I used vim, it's on a vps where no gui available. I don't know how to save or exit. After some learning, and even I just passed the vim tutor, and used like 5% function of vim, I still feel it is worth using even with gui(vim in st). It just works and fast, so why not.

give me a HDMI port and 3 USB ports, on the phone and i will buy it.
having a phone with the ability to run desktop application in a so small form form factor and use a keyboard,
mouse and a screen would make it a strong selling point.
just my opinion do

Not only plain text editor, but also as code editor with ale plugin, snippets and things I didn't discover yet. Vim is so good, it wasn't hard at all starting to use it.

Everything good from Microsoft I apprechiate. Everything fishy I discourage.
The question of MS being good or evil is pointless. Just judge what they are doing.

I use Gedit.
I find terminal based text editors to be very clunky.
So I'm surprised to see that 60 percent of you would use vim.

If I use wayland, I can't use docker x11 apps, but if I use x11, I get fewer features of gnome, can't you gnome guys just solve this?
