HW News - Newegg's Incompatible Ryzen Combos, RDNA3 Multi-Chip GPU, EVGA DARK Board

Newegg made AM5 X670E motherboard combos with incompatible DDR4 RAM - and lots of them. Additionally, we'll be talking about AMD's RDNA3 teaser of a multi-chip module design (MCM) for the new GPUs. Other news includes topics on Fractal's Lumen series liquid cooler failures and its plans to make good with them, EVGA's new Z790 motherboards, a Ryzen 7000 series recap, and more. tobalaz: Just finally upgraded from a failing GTX 1070 that was artifacting like mad to a 6900 xt and I avoided New Egg like the plague even though I used to build 3-4 PCs with parts from there for years. After bundling exploding PSUs, knowingly sending out bad parts then refusing to replace them and pretending they wanted to fix their wrongdoings without trying to fix their wrongdoings I just couldn't risk it.
With no Microcenter anywhere near me and Amazon's fantastic return policies I'd be crazy to risk it.

I'm so pissed at NewEgg right now. I recently purchased 4 SAS hard drives to replace a failing drive in my home development server (a Dell T640), and the 3rd party sent out old/reused OEM hard drives instead of new ones that I purchased. I'm just so freaking done with that hot mess garbage seller, it's not even funny. And I'll give you one guess as to who still has these garbage old drives, and is out the 500 that these new drives would've cost....NewEgg is the worst online retailer to work with, hands down, end of story! And there are so many other stories like this from my co-workers (FYI, we work at Red Hat and buy new gear _all...the...time_). Never again...thanks NewEgg for FORCING people back to Amazon, just to get the basics of what they actually paid for. And each time I purchase from Amazon...a piece of my soul dies inside.
NewEgg could be the hero we really need right now, but instead they're just such a failure with no good future in sight.

I think a common clogging issue with radiators tends to be how they clean the parts, if they clean them individually they shouldn't have much issue, however if they clean the parts near fully assembled than fill with the glycol it could cause an issue down the road.
I believe when citric acid (industrial cleaner) is mixed with propylene glycol it can cause the formation of plastic with heat, might not be an issue one encounters right away, it takes time, and heat to create. It shouldn't form a hard plastic, a more sludge like material, it would be heavily dependent upon the heat load inside the AOI, and the time used. Wouldn't be something caught right away, months, or years, and in lower powered systems it likely would never be an issue.
You need to be sure you fully purge the cooler of citric acid prior to filling and sealing, you also need to make sure the tubing doesn't absorb any of it, it doesn't take much to cause the reaction.

If anybody is tracking the Arctic replacement kit status thing, I had one of the affected coolers and they did get me a replacement kit after submitting the request. It took a bit longer than I expected, but I live... let's say out of the way and the thing did show up, so no worries there. Replacement was as described, although one of the screws taller screws that they send to replace the shorter profile ones required a lot more pressure than the rest. The cooler now works as expected. And yes, there was gunk in the fins and degradation in the gasket despite the cooler being fairly new. It wasn't affecting performance too much, I got maybe 4-5 C back at best, but it would have gotten worse over time, I'm sure.

Other than Newegg fiasco with memory, Corsair coming out with a rated 600watt connector you have to buy separately for the 4090 could be indicative to still potential problems without having a ATX 3.0 PSU or other companies who manufacturer PSUs not following Corsairs lead. 4090 purchase could still be a wash for many unsure of reliability in their existing power supply not having enough dedicated Pcie power adapters in their current PSU for a three- or four- prong graphics card power adapter.

I so love these news updates, put em at the background when im at work, you guys cover news that would take me hours to read/watch on each piece alone. Cant wait for the undervolts on the Ryzen 7's, i wonder if motherboard manufactureres gonna impliment this into the bios just as auto-OC is baked in now.
And wow.. 23:06 they previous announced this announcement, and now to reannounce the announcement of that announcement because it has more things to announce.

I've purchased bundles from Newegg previously that had Ryzen CPU's bundled with Motherboards that didn't have the proper BIOS flashed on them so the system wouldn't boot. I needed the CPU but couldn't get it any other way so I ended up having the purchase a separate motherboard with BIOS flashback on Amazon because Newegg wouldn't send me a compatible motherboard without also sending back the CPU which I couldn't get my hands on otherwise.

Ok I am a layman who comes back into the market every few years for my upgrades. I am so very confused and think I just wasted a bunch of money.
My PSU just died I had to get my computer back up and running I bought a psu that was nice and gave me headroom for the future. Evga supernova 1300Gt. Did I just buy a psu that won't work on the new am5 socket motherboards? I currently have ryzen 9 3900x am4 with x570 meg ace.

Amazon is not much better. A few months ago I ordered a Ryzen 7 5700X. They sent an 5900X. I returned it and reordered a 5700X. I kept it for awhile and decided I wanted the 5800X3D. When I received the 5800X3D, I noticed the seal had been broken and it had a sticker over the factory label. I then returned both processors on Aug. 29. I have yet to get a refund over a month later.

Steve, Nvidia can't do SLI anymore, because we'd all need 1500 watt power supplies. That actually puts our wall outlets over the max sustained power draw (3/4). True we should be able to get 1800 watts on a 120V with 15A, but you're only supposed to run them at 75%, or 1350W. If we go any higher, we'll need new electrical cable ran, a new breaker, and a new plug rated for 20-Amp.

As data scientist, I can t believe Steve is still saying 1% per 1 is stagnation, thats not how scaling works, and it seems painfully obvious to me that its a nonsensical argument.
If you could pay 100 more for 100% improvement of a 3060ti that would be an amazing deal. You don t compare % improvement to absolute dollar amount, it should be % improvement to % dollar.

The only products I was forced to get from Newegg was my PowerColor Red Devil 6800xt and my Gskill Royal elite 2x16 4000C14 memory because I m pretty sure they had the whole supply for the US. Which I m even more confident was like 20 or so kits. I couldn t find the parts anywhere else at that time in 2021. Plus I m pretty sure they had exclusivity on the memory.

Who would have thought that after everyone and their brother decided to get into the AIO game, they would half ass it. So sad to see Artic have clogged messes when mine, an older unit runs great. It was also the last AIO I bought. Towers for friend and family build custom loops for personals. But on a tight budget AIO seem like a good value (unless corsair lul)

Newegg needed to do better not worse. Now they are ruining their credibility showing incompetence thus driving more people to say microcenter and Amazon. . I'm sure Linus can see Newegg is shipwrecking just like ncix did. Sadly gamers Nexus does a lot of business with Newegg so it's like seeing your neighborhood blockbuster going under right before your eyes

Im 5 months in still waiting on a refund from ARCTIC. The same aio from your other video when they announced they were doing their recalls.
The sad part is, this process is just a few weeks away from the total time of me owning the aio when it worked.
6 year warranty means nothing if they cant back up an aio thats been in use for 6 months.....
