Newegg's Shocking Incompetence

Newegg sold us a motherboard that they knew was damaged. It was even labeled as such and Newegg themselves had started to RMA it, but then they blamed us for the damage. Filipe: They didn't want to fix it themselves so they resold it to make their money back on any client... I guess it's the last time I buy from newegg. Actually, I am waiting for ram rma, the ram dram chip melted waiting for booting and the second stick has no damage but don't work either. Weird behaviors and I don't like to give my money to weird people. Good to watch and listen videos like yours, stories are important to help others like reviews but for some stores.

In late 2020 I bought a motherboard and Ryzen 5 3400g from Newegg. I checked and neither were listed as Open Box. When I got the package the mobo was definitely open box (parts like the i/o shield and one SATA cable were missing) and the CPU was just not included. I immediately took pics and emailed Newegg customer support, sending the pics I took. After a week or so, a rep emailed, asking for pics of the damage to the shipping container , which there was none. But I sent them pics of the perfect box. A few more weeks pass and someone else emails asking for pics of the missing and damaged items. I reminded them there was no damage, just an item I didn't order and a missing item. A couple more weeks went by and a third person again asked for pictures. I sent them a 3rd time and did not hear back for a month. I filed a charge dispute with my credit card company, sending all my correspondence and images, and they reversed all the charges. Since I never received return approval or instructions for the mobo I just kept it. Suck it Newegg.

so if open box purchase is not recommended does that apply with even greater for for buying a used gpu from some rando outside the country? though i guess even if they were in the same city depending on how brazen they were they might still just dump something on your and claim you broke it. in the end i guess it all requires trust which requires some kind of good reputation (or lack of information). if you knew where the local seller lived and reserved the right to return the product with a velocity of your choosing that might suffice :-)

I bought a motherboard a few years ago, open box. I had purchased a motherboard originally brand new, and had to RMA it a couple caps just fell off, right out of the box. Second brand new motherboard would not POST. Third, I went and bought as open box That particular board still works. The idea used to be that open box meant it went thru the RMA process and was resold as working and complete. Now, it isn't the case. It seems a way for Newegg to get rid of crap they don't want to have repaired. Newegg used to be so good.

Thanks for the follow up video!
I posted on the first video about this situation stating that I am a state worker where I reside and would disperse this information to make sure non of our departments will buy anything from Newegg again.
This has been done.
Shameful that a company so many of use had used successfully in the past would stoop to this level.
Stay well!

Newegg?...More like Crackedeggs and scam, I mean ham I mean ham.....They sent me a X570 Taichi mobo and I could not get P.O.S.T with any CPU from Zen1 thru 3 and when I sent it back, within a week btw, they said user error/damage I used your damaged bro, so we argued and now I have a bricked board I use for parts.....Thank you Crackedeggs I didnt need that 200 anyways...

yea not sure i buy the whole honest mistake angle you were trying to stretch for, maybe on the reselling, but then when it comes back, unopened, and they inspect the board, which has a giant sticker proving it had the problem before you got it... then they refuse your refund because of the issue that they know was pre-existing, thats not an accident, thats malicious

It sucks cus this is horrible, but working in the ahipping industry for the last few years im guessing ur original return either got lost or damaged in the mail. The company I work for has had a bad few months with every shipping company including FedEx ground, Fedex Express and UPS and USPS. Even the freight companies have been having problems with damages.

Two things I would like to say.
1. So is your Aunt Nancy buying and gifting Steve a couple open box motherboards from newegg to further see if this is more of a trend with them?
2. Bang up job reporting on crappy Company's doing bad things to consumers. If only the big news agencys where this good at holding crappy companys accountable.
