AMD today announced specs and details of its new AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, RX 6800, and RX 6900 XT GPUs, which will respectively compete with the RTX 3080, 3070, and 3090 from NVIDIA. AMD's new GPUs will cost 580 for the RX 6800, 650 for the RX 6800 XT, and 1000 for the RX 6900 XT. Our video will cover specs, initial RDNA2 GPU architectural information, and features, but AMD didn't provide prices until the announcement. The prices put the 6800 just above the RTX 3070 in price, the 6800 XT just below the RTX 3080 in price, and the RX 6900 XT way below the RTX 3090 -- by about 500, although it does have less memory. AMD's new GPU release dates put them out before end of year (detailed in video), with new features like Rage Mode, Smart Access Memory (SAM), and Infinity Cache up for initial explanation in this content. We expect additional RDNA2 architecture information sometime soon and got an overview of the basics today. AMD compatibility with existing ray tracing implementations (based on DXR 1.0 and DXR 1.1) also came up in the news, as NVIDIA has established itself as somewhat of an incumbent with RTX.

Picked up a 5700XT hoping to go back to Team Red (My original team, post-TNT2!) thrilled at the prospect of 2070 Super performance for a hundy less. Yakuza Kiwami kept just randomly black screening. Much as I loved the software (and I REALLY love the software) and general performance, I traded it in for Team Green, because I knew it'd just work. And it did! 8600K/16GB DDR4. I actually walked BACK to a 1660 Super, and have no need to switch yet. That card's pretty massive bang for buck for the 200 range; moderate overclock gets you 1070-1070Ti performance, which is just pure stonks, solid 1440p card for any game half decently optimized (NOT looking at you, Fall Guys) And at some point you have to gauge if you're troubleshooting more than you're playing. Sadly with 5700XT, it was more troubleshooting. It's worth a hundred bucks to just not have to worry about it...

meh, to me AMD still has a lot to prove and ill still stick with intel and nvidia till they have a consistant tract record. having 1 good or seemingly good products doesn't do it for me, its all about consistency where they could come out with this generation of stuff and it could be good and then come out next gen stuff and it just flops or this new generation struggles out of the gate and then has issues down the line. I used to have full AMD builds when the last time they were on top and they need to reprove themselfs to me even if this stuff is actually good. but will they continue in that direction and just make good products that wont blue screen every two seconds because their drivers are shit.

Are you sure about the statements you made about DLSS 2.0? I thought that this is the new big change with DLSS 2.0 that it is no longer required to be fitted to a specific game. NVIDIA now maintains a generic neural net which can be used independently of concrete games and games only have to provide history frames and motion vectors to the DLSS 2.0 API, but are NOT required to send images to a supercomputer . I think this only used to be true for DLSS 1.0, but is no longer true for DLSS 2.0?!

as i compared the graph AMD shows and some data from testers, the nvidia cards' fps data did not turn on dlss which will give 15-25% extra fps
also the fps with ray tracing on is NOT shown at all
the high performance of 6900XT is based on zen3 cpu with haven't released yet
with all these things adds up the value of these AMD cards seems about the same with Nvidia cards
Well I brought RTX3080 already so I could just be salty...I hope I didnt waste my money

The Xbox Series X basically has a custom 550 dollar GPU albeit a slightly cut down 52 compute unit version with 3,328 shaders instead of the full 60 compute unit part with 3.840 shaders !
Either Way that s insane the Xbox Series X has an Rdna 2 GPU that s almost the equivalent of a 550 dollar 6800 card, and with the usual deep console level developer optimizations for game s there s no doubt the Xbox Series X Will be competing very nicely with the 6800

I hope the drivers are better I still can t shut down my computer with a 5600xt it can restart but if it goes in to sleep mode it won t wake up in I shut down the computer it will black screen soon has windows loads, the only way I get past it is to go into safe mode uninstalling the display adapter and driver then restart and reinstall the driver. Some time it will black screen on the new driver install has well

Nice to see, but considering i run 2 panels, with the primary being 1080p 75hz, i think my 5700XT will do just fine for any 9th gen games. Maybe after ive moved, and gotten a car, ill look into grabbing one of these, but right now 800 to 900 bucks CAD for a 6800XT aint happenin fam. Nice to see AMD slapping Nvidia though. Its like the entire lineup is a R9 390 to Nvidias 970 all over again, good showing!

I am extremely impressed by this. Like I was certain AMD is going to dominate the low to mid tier gpus like they always did but MAN! They are killing it on the high end department this time! Like WOWZA! Kinda wished I waited for the 6800xt instead of the 3080 I got but meh, what happened, happened. If they keep this up by the time I decided to upgrade GPU again Im definitely gonna try AMD gpu next time.

Smart Access Memory and RTX IO sound very similar. I hope someone addresses this as it was kinda overlooked by everyone and it was more of a focus of how much faster is pcie4.0 instead of a consideration of this feature that is still a requirement of game devs to utilize. AMD definitely highlighted it more than nvidia though

15:40 okay so that's confirmation, say the game Control with RTX , won't have ray tracing using Rx6000 series, UNLESS the developer enables it to work with RX6000, hopefully this means developers will support an DXR in the near future so that it's not gpu dependent
