Log Cabin Building, Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Cooking, Canadian Wilderness, Off Grid Living, Homesteading Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. I don't know what causes the avian bird flu but if your chickens could get that I don't know if you know what preventative things you got to do so they don't get the avian bird flu. Not sure if it's about the birds living in their own waste or what. Probably need a face mask on while in that chicken coop with some fragrance you like sprayed into it. I had some other things I thought about bringing up but I forgot. I'm not sure what you're going to do anymore besides fix your chicken run and probably garden again. Oh yeah, I think you did say you were going to add a bedroom extension to your cabin. You do change your mind alot and things come up. You really do look like you're going to go into a Coma. I don't know if you see a doctor. I wonder if it would do any good to be put to sleep and kept asleep for a week while a person's body was suspended in a harness so they weren't laying down like in a stand up position and given an I. V. drip for a week while kept asleep and maybe after they were put to sleep for a week or something they would become more youthful again. Don't know if the aging problem can ever be solve or what.

I was wondering where you have been shawn, but i am glad see that your back. I remember watching years ago when you started your first Cabin building process and tease you always making me hungry when you are making those yummy meals lol. it started a childhood dream which i first watched that renew my passion for the outdoors, found memories riding horses up in the mountains and camping at night. Finely saved enough for a nice piece of forested land with lots of room! and one with a large creek runs through the property in Canada. So I am going for my dream and building my cabin with my oldest son. My family wishes you the best to your family and you Shawn. Thank you for videos go for you dreams that's what i am going to do.

Hello,
I have 5. acres in Washington State. Looking to develop for future family. Should I hire a RE Attorney to make sure land is secure and all entities are included on the transaction ( siblings 5 ). We will be building 3 small cottages adjacent to main house. Existing deep well, hard water, fruit trees, with access to beach front. Not sure how this would look on paper Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thank you kindly
Stephi

Thanks to you and your lovely wife, Shawn, for this video. The cabin snow is absolutely gorgeous. I'm recovering from knee replacement and so this is so pleasant to watch. Take care of your knees. Seems these days when I go out, I mostly look at other people's knees and remember my youth, now 68. So glad you're staying in health, you two! Regards from far north California.

Has it really been that long Time has a way of slipping by us if we are not careful to enjoy the life we have been given. I remember so much. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. It has been that, hasn't it You have been true to yourself and lived your dream life. You found what many never find and others late in life. To thine own self be true.

Enjoyed the video and scenery and of course Callie living her best life! I think she was telling you at the cabin she wanted to go on one of those long walks you were doing in Sedona! She had a good time out there for sure. I noticed the snow clumping in Callie’s hair in Sedona but it doesn’t seem to do it as much at home, wonder why

Honestly, when someone living alone in the wilderness or sailing the south Pacific just stops posting I assume that the odds have caught up with them. However, unlike the duo that I dubbed Idiots At Sea that I knew were either going to drown in a storm or get hit by pirates, you actually seem to know what you're doing.

Self reliance does not mean what the words say - it is simply a degree of contrast from other positions. All of us benefit from what others have done before and for us. Somebody made the tool, somebody taught us a skill, even the survival foods are usually grown, processed and packed by somebody, etc etc etc.

Shawn, there is a lot of us that have missed you all. Thank you, thank you for this video for just letting us all know of the Familiar that you present and for some of us, what we all know as well. You, your dog and your family are such good neighbors to us all. Thank you again!

Thanks for all your great videos, Shawn! Thank you as well for introducing us all to Cali - she is a true love! Just a questionwhere did you find all the stone to finish the chicken coop - it looks great! Did you split it in order to mortar it to the outer walls Thank you!

In the first part of the video
I thought that beam was going to spin around and fall on a leg. scary. After all the years of observing you (and cali ), one of the many take aways is that even you are human and are susceptible to injury. (But we don't want to see that ).

Everything was lovely, just thought you’d tell us what you’re up to, but a picture/video is worth a thousand words. Having a homestead is an incredible amount of work. I’d have to be in my 20’s to think about pulling that off. Take care out there

Shawn, we enjoy the view into your world. But we do not stay because of what saw you used or whether or not you use power tools. We stay because we like you and your family - including Cali. You are an honest man with rare common sense. We like you guys.

Didn’t realize what you had to go through to get to your place! But you are probably much happier there! I still remember the other cabin you built and had to leave behind! I watched from beginning to end on that one!
