I have countless small wood, leather and fly-tying projects to work on in my off grid workshop when the weather is cold and snowy outside. Fortunately, we get some mild weather that reduces the snow depth to a little more than a foot and now Cali can walk with us through the forest with less struggle. Log Cabin Building, Bushcraft, Survival Skills, Cooking, Canadian Wilderness, Off Grid Living, Homesteading Hi, I'm Shawn James. I am a passionate outdoorsman living the life of my dreams in a log cabin that I built by myself in the Canadian wilderness. Join me and my golden retriever, Cali and listen to the sounds of the forest in this relaxing wilderness setting. I prefer to keep my talking to a minimum and let the natural sounds of nature make you feel as though you are there with me. For the 2nd time in my 68 years, I won't be in western NY for Christmas. Dad passed away in August, his home (the only one I've ever known) has been sold, and now I have to figure out what a Bay Area Christmas will be. Your video has reminded me how much I love the snow and the cold and the peace of winter. and how much I miss my parents and will miss seeing my 4 siblings. In fact, I actually don't know when I'll ever see them again.
If you could, I'd appreciate a caption of the type of animals you feature. I love to learn and seeing them in their natural habitat is the best. You ever decide to change your financial situation, I'd bet there's a market for your gorgeous nature videos.
Best wishes for 2025, Shawn, to you and yours. Thank you for all you shared in 2024.

Hey Shawn, what are you wearing for winter coats these days I know you like your outback trading coats, how aren they for winter Or do you have any other updated suggestions I value your opinion as you would be one to actually use a jacket for what it's for and in a rugged environment. We have similar weather to you. I'm in mid Michigan, havent gotten the snow like you have these past couple weeks, but we have hit a couple good cold spells.

SHAWN & OUR CALI! Hey there how you all doing up there staying warm I know that in the log cabin! Love to do leather work here in the house have made a lot of stuff for Family members as the time has flown by! I made my Son a Deer Skin Jacket also with deer hides we had tanned over the years !

Nice relaxing video, I really like the green dye you used on the leather! Could any of the hides you have harvested be used for leather work, or are they not thick enough Not sure if we’ll see you before Christmas next week so Merry Christmas to you and your family! And Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone watching!

Merry Christmas to you and your family. Back in my youth, I was an archery instructor, I made arm guards and breat guards for the ladies. Out of large ice cream lids. I always wanted to make them out of leather, but alas, family and work commitments took my time.

Shawn, you made beautiful surroundings. Love your workshop
My shed (lol) got delivered this week. It is going to be a workshop.
I moved up north. Off-grid and I am excited to work on projects while it's or snowing.
Merry Christmas Brother

6-7 inches of snow to do an early morning commute to get Throid surgery, back home already. W e country folks are tougher than the backside of a shooting gallery. Love watching your progress as well, Shawn.

Nice project. If i can advice you, leather worker to leather worker, mi always place a clamp on the bottom of my paint bottles, that keeps them from tipping over and ruin your work or at least your work place

I just lost my precious 15 year old shih tzu and your beautiful Cali just warmed my sad heart. What a blessing our fur babies are. Have the merriest Christmas on your gorgeous retreat

Happy Birthday, Cali! You do good leatherwork, Shawn! I do fair work, struggling with arthritis and trigger finger, but it is always a pleasure to watch you work regardless the material!

Glad I checked here, I hadn't seen a video in months on Rumble. Will you be returning to Rumble I hope It's a lot of folks new go to due to censorship, throttling, revenue loss etc.

Maybe you could leatherwork yourself a nice firewood sling to make it easier to carry in a bunch of it Looks easier for those I've seen using one, Or maybe canvas with leather handles: D

Enjoyed your leather working project. I just finished a slim jim cross draw holster for a 1860 Army cap and ball. Do you get into any black powder hunting Enjoy your solitude.

The light seems to be not very good in these winter inside videos. I'm not trying to be a coplainer, maybe the fact I'm turning 50 this year it's just my eyesight lol

That was some cuteness overload with Cali, the otters and pine marten. Merry Christmas to you Shawn and your family.
P. S. The use of ballistic gel was not lost on me.

The drone shots are amazing. To think that such detailed tonally varied footage that even Kubrick couldn't have achieved would be possible now. Gordon Bennett.

Loved this! Reminded me of when I would make some of my Falconry equipment. All the best for Christmas and the new year to you and your family. Hugs for Cali.
