A busy spring in the forest garden as I continue to establish perennial fruits and vegetables and plant annual vegetables in raised beds and in loose rows around the 1/2 clearings in the forest. Cali and I take a 1/2 day break to fish on a nearby lake to escape the heat and bugs around the cabin. Bo: Your house looks just fantastic, and the garden is really looking more and more useful and proffessional in an off grid perspective. I am still dissapointed that the greenhouse didnt work for you but I understand the difficulties.

Zebra stripes confuse flies so they bite less. Dug up apple root stocks. I watered them too much and soil held too much moisture. These cool temps from wild fire smoke hasn't helped. Some sunshine would help. The last storm that came through was a hail storm. Which happens with wild fire smoke frequently. Nice clover blooms. Our honey production looks like it will be slowing soon. I did catch a swarm in my rough cut swarm trap. I gotta finish making frames. I like vigorous root stocks. The difference in roots between dwarf and vigorous trees is huge. Decided to plant root stocks and graph to them later on. I did buy another cherry tree and apple tree. We planted our onions and potatoes last fall. They are doing great. The kale is almost evasive. The Astronomy domine sweet corn is 18-24 inches tall. I got it in before the last spring rains in early May. Gotta finish my moms deck today and move bees into Lazutin hive. Need to tear apart pallets to make nail board armor for the hive to keep out bears.

l like the idea of leaving plants in the pots for a year to grow. I am moving to a forrested area so there is no soil yet to work with.
