In this 2nd episode of the summer kitchen build, I finish the first gable end section with 5x7 pine timbers I mill from trees I cut down around the cabin. Sandra: I loved it when Cali looked at that hole you were digging and said if Dad can do it so can I LOLOL She's a GREAT HELPER! Have you ever thought about making a screen door for your cabin? WOW now that's what I call a Man's HAMMER holy cow! Okay raising time. nope next video. You are one Gifted and very skilled man Shawn. GREAT VIDEO thank you and God's Blessings.

Ever thought of getting a couple of huge tanks and filling them up from the stream out front during the spring thaw and using that water for yaself and garden? offcoarse u wud have to drain them b4 the freeze but u can also use 44galon drums in the basement to pump water into for winter. extra storage is better then nothing and not wasting the water u have to empty out in winter. or get a backhoe and bury them in the ground. below the frost line. its worth doing it cos the spring thaw should give u enough water to last winter and all year round. The cost of the project will be cheap accept for the tanks but u can get a sponsor for that: ). lol

hahahaha. I guess first and the last seconds are the best indicators of how people watch the video: )
I don't see what exactly happened - either cable broke or the ladder. I would worry about using ladder like this. The weight of your kitchen wall is way more than weight of heavy person ladder is made for. Don't you have two trees to make line parallel to the exit door and use it the same way you did when you built the cabin?

I've been following this guy I love his work and the fact that he doesn't spend the whole day talking. But I'm curious if he will answer or anyone else who knows the answer feel free to jump in. He cuts all of this wood and then Mills it but he does not dry it in any way before he puts it on his houses or his structures I thought would had to be dried first

There's that sweet girl! Dad's ever-present, faithful companion. Always ready to boost morale with toys to be thrown, and snoozing right under foot. She's a GOOD girl, that Cali.
Nice turkey for the roaster, time for a bear next. And, bug season has arrived! Ack! Nasty buggers.
And, we hate when that happens! At least it was only a short drop.

Hated to see the first lift be a bust, but that's how we study further for Plan B. Nice timber frame!
By the way, you need to get a flattening diamond stone for your natural stones to help keep them flat. (This is more a comment for the sharpening video) Regardless of how careful you are, they will become dished. Ask me how I know.
Good video!

Not to be a downer but I am 68 and I just wonder what People are going to do when they get older in a home like this. My SO and I are living with his Dad with Alzheimer's and will be 90 in July. The door ways are wide enough for a wheelchair. And how many People can afford to place their Parent in a facility let alone a Alzheimer's facility.

The interesting thing about watching you make the cuts and slots to fit those logs together is, all the Vietnamese content creators build their house frames in a very similar manner. Apparently it's an industry in VN to makes the posts already notched, of varying sizes, and the 'home builder' just fits them all together like LinkinLogs

Mate, your amazing. I don't think a bulldozer could bring you down. your resilience is beyond imagination, but please listen to your body, when you've had enough rest for awhile, your a credit to mankind and a hero to most of us living in the city. May peace and plenty be with you and your family.

Sean I'm so impressed how much time you took sharpening the edge of the chisels and the notches you cut to lock in the wood. I'm a bodyman so I deal with metal and other materials. But I did frame houses 35 years ago so I know exactly how hard your work is AND YOU MAKE IT LOOK EASY

Been watching you about three years. Only my second message though, incredible what you accomplish. I'd look at one of them 8 by 8 you take off your sawmill, sawing one of them in half, with just a hand saw would just about do me in. lol, thanks for the ride buddy.

That's some really hard work, my back is aching just watching! And here comes black fly season just because it isn't already hard enough. Am I the only one who was swatting at the air when those little ba %&ds buzzed in for their extreme closeups?

I like the saying, Proper prior planning prevents perplexing problems. I can see such at play in this working video. I would recommend not eating bear and such. It is not biblically defined food. debt 11 and 14 I think it is. This is not religious.

So glad to see you back in the pink, Shawn. I just have to ask, how much does it cost you for using that golden excavator? She seems to be worth her weight in gold around the garden and kitchen construction sites! What a team y'all make!
