Video Suggestion: Following along with the pseudo-TexMex theme: I'd really like to see your take on the Quesadilla Burger from Applebee's. I've tried to recreate it but have never really got it.
In my opinion Applebee's of late has been on the decline, but in its prime, the burger was spectacular, one of those whole is greater than the sum of its parts kind of thing!
There is a lot going on with it: Burger, bacon, Pico, Mexi-Ranch style sauce, and getting the flour tortilla deep fried crunchy.
Would love to see your spin on it, and of course, make it better! Love the tongs, BTW!

Taco Bell sells Taco Seasoning Mix in the grocery stores. Wouldn't that be more authentic And buy a bottle of some of the Mild Sauce. (I guess it was the BellBurger originally)
When I was a kid, we had a Taco Bell, about 2 blocks from the house, and a McDonalds, about another 1/4 mile away. I loved the Bell Beefers. Then again, I was 12. Then I tried one of the Tacos (Tah-co on the menu in case we didn't know) Star of the show was the Enchirito. Oh, and the Caramel Apple Empanada (much later.

This thing was apparently around for a few decades. The 60's in some places through the 90's with short comebacks a couple times since then. I'm in MN and where I am this thing was never on the menu during the 80's and 90's and it wasn't here for those comebacks either. Was too young to remember anything from the 70's. I probably would've at least tried it if it were on the menu in the 80's on, I've had everything else from there lol.

There's was a restaurant in the early 80's, in my small hometown in Wyoming, it was called The Scoop Drive In. They copied the Bell Beefer, they simply called it a Taco Burger. It was delicious.
They also copied the Big Mac calling it a Scoop Burger.
I would love to see y'all make an Idaho original, Finger Steaks, they are like Steak McNuggets, served with Horseradish Ketchup, you know like a cocktail sauce, for dipping.

Please make an Encherito. It was one of my favorites, made a short return, and now it's gone again. So basic, and so much better than some of their offerings. Thank you for the Bell Beafer. I'm 57 and remember it! I believe they offered the Bellbeefer to have something to go up against the other fast food chains hamburgers. Daddy, I want a hamburger. Okay Son, here's a Taco Bell Bellbeefer.

Looks decent, but I think I would make two additions. Jalapenos, either normal or pickled, put a couple slices on there. Two, maybe some sour cream. Not because it's too spicy, always love spicy, but for some bonus flavor. The lettuce against a dry top bun seems lacking. Not sure it even needs lettuce if you have fresh jalapenos in for the crunch.

I'm pretty sure I remember there being tomatoes on the Bell Beefer. That was my favorite thing from Taco Bell when I was a kid. When they took it off the menu there was another chain in town called Taco Charley (an obvious knock-off, l and they had their copy-cat called the Charley Burger, which was just as amazing! I say bring it back!

I think you could easily whip this idea into a simple series Sam Brings it Back. pick any restaurant chain, select three discontinued items (preferably 10 years or so, make them. and then the group votes on which one should come back. Simple concept, easy to do, etc.
I know almost every fast food chain has had some weird stuff.

I often make sandwiches from taco/nacho meat I make at home. I also call them 'sloppy Jose sandwiches'
I cook the onions in with the meat and usually use a slice of American cheese. Sometime I put a bunch of 'taco blend' cheese in with the meat when I reheat it and melt the cheese right in with the meat.

I remember it as the Bell Burger but have no memory of any lettuce being on it. Imagine the beefer name came after all the allegations of TVP use. It was delicious and the soft untoasted bun helped hold it together. These days it’s embarrassing to admit that my first exposure to Mexican food was Taco Bell.

Del Taco still makes one they call it Bun Taco, they run them occasionally on the menu, but will make if you ask. Alternatively I make the bell beefer at home too with a packet of taco seasoning instead individual seasonings, plus the 1/3 cup water added makes it moist. Not as fancy maybe but easy peasy.

What makes a burger like this is to use shredded iceberg lettuce and wrap it up when it's hot to steam the bun and partially cook the lettuce, along with melting the cheese. This is not meant to be fancy. They still make them at Taco Grande in KS called a taco burger and they are fantastic.

So funny timing. We just stopped at Taco Bell on a road trip on Tuesday & I described to my wife, who is not originally from California, the Taco Bell burger/sloppy Joe sandwich thing we had in the 70's called the Bell Beefer. Next you need to recreate the Taco Light from the 90's.

In the 60's they built a Taco Bell across from my high school in Southern California. We walked over there every day at lunch time and I would usually order the Bell Beefer. I believe they were $. 25. They were one of the original menu items. this was 1966-67. We loved them.

I saw this mentioned on Good Mythical Morning a good while back but seeing a Sam take on the old school McDonalds Onion Nuggets and Steak Sandwich would be cool.
Also, that gentleman has been asking for a Smoked Salmon pizza for a bit now. Probably time to give it a go.

Alrighty then! Just to let you know Mr. Sam, my wife just made your classic remake of Hamburger Helper! It was fantastic! Especially when she added the sharp white cheddar, I’m a happy husband, she told me to tell you thank you for all the great recipes. Love you guys!

Its so interesting reading the comments saying this was their go to item in high school in the 70s or 80s when my go to item as a high schooler in the 90s was a chilito. Can we all just agree that Taco Bell is robbing high school students the past decade or more

I'm wondering if the fact that they discontinued them wasn't because they didn't taste good, but because they just didn't sell simply because people didn't think to order a a Mexican Sloppy Joe (or any type of burger) from Taco Bell, so they overlooked it.

That burger meat is too thick! You have to cook the burger in water, and it will break down into the fine bits like in everything beef at taco bell! Texture is half of the experience there and most Mexican restaurants when it comes to burger meat!
