We've made one of these delicious Sardine Sandwiches before and you were amazed - it's time to introduce this favorite delicacy of mine to new generation of viewers! John: I ate sardine and onion and bacon sandwiches for lunch in 7th & 8th grade, then stopped. i started again after my 2d divorce in 1987 because they were a cheap source of protein.
I still eat them cause thy're cheap. I've added mackeral, salmon, kippered herring, anchovies, chicken and some other fishes because they are all good sources of cheap protein. canned protein for less than 2/Lb Pantry stockers first class! Thanks Sam for your range from humble sardines to over the top burgers. Always entertaining, always delicious.

I love sardines. Grilled, with vinegar, lemon, Tabasco, onions, canned, thawed, fresh. Have a plate full beside the bbq and throw a few on. Reach over and grab the one you have been looking after. Dip it in the dressing of choice. A bunch of the boys sitting on the patio, shooting the breeze, enjoying a cold one. Cold Portuguese vino Verde
May I never get stuck in my basement, living off of our pantry. I can hear my wife: SARDINES! SARDINES! NOTHING BUT SARDINES?
I quiver as I see a scene out of Faulty Towers.
I can only hope that the trauma is over before I am asked to share my sardines.

Instead of the boys each wearing their own mics, just have a regular mic sitting on the table in between them on a table. That way it isn't so loud, but it isn't too faint where we cant hear them unless they yell. I think that would be ideal. That way they still aren't characters in the show, expected to always say something, but just background occasional commenters or audience like and we don't struggle to hear their answers. Make our lives a little less stressful. Haha

In the 1960's (yeah, last century, my family lived in Europe. We would travel in our VW camper bus and stop at small family-owned bakeries in France. My parents would buy a large baguette, split it down the middle, smear butter on both halves, then dump a can of sardine fillets in olive oil on it. They would then cut the whole baguette into sandwiches that we would eat for lunch. Great memories of that. I still love those simple sandwiches.

The 'boys' should get mics A favourite of mine, ciabatta buns halved and drizzled with olive oil (you can use the oil from the sardine can) and stuck under the grill - or broiler as they say in the US - until a little brown. Smashed avocado, sardines broken up on that and some good tomatoes. Black pepper and enjoy.

I love sardines and sardine sandwiches. Try this one, pumpernickel bread covered generously with cream cheese on the inside of each slice. Place one can bristling sardines on slice #1. Top sardines with 1/2 a jar of Romanoff black or red caviar and top with slice #2. Delicious!

Sam and Lads, great recipe. I too grew up saying tuna fish and I swing that flag. But though you have two years on me, my kids think I am the better Jewish Mother. Y'all just don't rock it like I do. Just saying, not that they are biased.
Please mic the Lads up.

Canned sardines taste way better than canned tuna in my opinion. It certainly is one of those things that people think is weird or gross but I grew up on it being poor in the 90s and now as a big boy I still enjoy them. I m definitely going to try this tomorrow.

Read A Light in August by William Faulkner. There is a scene where the main character eats sardines and crackers. It sounded so good I had to try. Turns out I love sardines! This sandwich looks amazing. Will also be adding smoked paprika to my grilled cheese

Nah, no mic for the guys behind the camera. There s nothing more obnoxious on YT videos than the fully mic ed, off-camera commentary. If you re off camera you re supposed to sound muffled, that s perfectly ok. Don t go ruining it.

Every now and then when I was a kid, my dad decided to try growing a moustache. Is that what's going on here? Also, I made the ranch dressing and it was amazing. Now I'm going to make the tartar sauce, sorry lemon-caper aioli. ..

Been eating sardines out of a tin or on a roasted pepper n salad sandwich for years. Friends and colleagues turned their noses up. Now, now the delicious little morsels seem to be in vogue both in supermarkets and on clothing.

SamTheCookingGuy Just as a short cut that works if you put capers in a garlic press and squish them through I find you basically get all the benefits of a rough chop of capers without the difficulty of actually chopping them.

Our local Grocery Outlet just had cans of fried sardines in sweet chili sauce - 2 for 1. they are actually pretty freakin' good! I think over rice with some sort of pickle-y or kimchi-y thing would be slammin.

As soon as I watched this, I had to make one. It turned out AMAZING! I thought I bought capers, but they turned out to be green peppercorns. I used them anyway. still amazing! Now I need to try it with capers.

You should came to Catalonia, where the real Aioli (All i Oli in catalan, that means garlic and oil) is from. There are masters from it here, and you can eat from snails to wonderful fish and meat dishes.

Mic up boys - you're already involved in the vid and we can hear you, we might as well be able to hear what you're saying.
And Sam, use paper towels to help get the skins off the peppers.

Sam, thank you for pointing out that Max and Chance need mics. I use headphones when watching you guys, so I can barely hear them. I imagine to others, they basically sound like Charlie Brown's Mom.

I would eat sardines for health benefits but I would prefer a more boneless or even no bones. I had to have dental surgery to remove bones from my gums and jawbone it worked it's way that deep

Sardines in oil, or garlic or lemon I enjoy, but I not a huge fan of the tomato sauce or mustard or Louisiana hot ect. kinda mentioning it cause I think I can ruin experience for others
