It's hard to describe exactly what truffles taste like because they are unique from pretty much any other food; the best way to describe it would be to imagine the smell of fresh gasoline at the pump. Not the chemical smells, but that sweet earthy smell that catches your nose first when it first starts pouring out. Truffles have the same kind of really strong earthy scent and taste, almost as if they have been fermenting in the rich soil for thousands of years. They also have other underlying tastes which can be similar to mushrooms, nuts, cheeses and even fruit depending on the species of truffle, but what brings them all together and what is essentially the trademark unique flavor of the truffle is that rich fossil fuel-like intensity.

I have tasted a (presumably low quality) truffle, and it was certainly not worth what I payed for it. -I bike in the woods and have come across someone digging in the dirt, so I stopped to see what was going on and he turned around and screamed something about it being his land and his profits. I don-t know what he was digging, but I am on the assumption it-s truffle, as it-s a very shady moist forest. I am now bias towards it and have negative views towards it, because of one crazy dude who got in my face.

It seems like everyone's mad at her for being the person to find something that's expensive. yea she made a lot of money in that deal but there are actual operating costs to business. truffle prices are nowhere near gold prices (I don't think she knows how much gold is actually worth. saying she makes a ton of money because what she's finding is worth a lot is like saying a diamond mine worker must be rich because diamonds are expensive.

Great Video! Thank You for all the information. My dog signaled, but no truffle. I saw a pencil thin white root about 6- long, is that a truffle in the making? Life is being in & part of the peaceful quiet forest. I was wondering if this was a good time & or year for Truffles in the Snoqulamie area? Any help would be wonderful!

Man these are some vicious ass comments. These ladies are doing what they love, basically hiking around the forest with their dogs for a living. And YES she treats her dogs well, she has to because she relies on them for business. --This was an interesting look into a not very explored industry, Thanks Munchies!

Whats really wierd is i used to take my pit hiking with me when i got into morel hunting. When we hiked for hours looking for morels he ran off on the hike back. A mile down the trail hiking back there he was standing right infront of a pound of morels i walked right by on the tree line.

I think the some people are misunderstanding this. Truffle is sort of like salt in a way, as it enhances the flavor of certain things, but by itself it's not good. As you would not take a bite out of a truffle, you would not stuff a handful of salt down your throat.

I love our video on using your family dogs to assist you on finding truffles. I want to train a puppy on mushroom hunting. What breed should I get. Do you sell puppies or adult dogs that would be appropriate for me. I live in Northern Cal. Thanks.

Truffles aren't really that good. They just can't mass produce them yet. It's just shit in the ground where if you were walking and found one you would never, ever eat it, yet train a dog and sell it in some fine restaurant and it's amazing.

Having truffles is like a intense experience. For example when you haven't had McDonald's in a long time and you bite into a cheeseburger you get that aroma with the beef and cheese. Truffles are like that intense experience but times 1000
