26: 21 While I know for sure the reasons for the restaurant to do this, but what I do know it's extremely common, especially at more traditional resturants for them to lower or just not add salt and leave it the table for the customer can salt/spice it themselves. This is especially true when it comes to soups, stew, ect.
It's to the point that when a lot of westerners try real traditional Korean foods, they tend to find them quite plain and/or lacking in salt/spice, when in all reality those dishes were meant to be customize by you at your table, with the suppplied spices/salts/ and/or the kimchi and vairous banchan ect.

Eating at Korean BBQ places was always like that when I was stationed over there in 1992. Waitress basically feeding you for the whole meal. Might have been a foreigner thing, but it was fun. Too much pig, too much soju, and an amazing meal every time.
Was supposed to go to Jeju-Do for RoK Army mountaineering training. had to go back ConUS instead for different training. Buddy of mine got my slot, still jealous of him for that. My training sucked. LOL

Thank you so much for introducing Jeju, but Jeju has lost much of its former appearance now. The CCP and Chinese people are taking over, and it has reached an irreversible level. It's a sad reality, but what can we do. Losing a country is painful, but the current president of South Korea is handing the entire country over. South Korea is done

following you for many many years and will forever! The way you comment how things are prepared is even better then a sports commentator is commenting the final goal on a world championhip. Thanks for so much positivity. And we went to a lot of place you recommented in the last say 10 years.

Tangerines are delicious but wait until you have a Hallabong. I remember the first time I ever had them, my grandad had some shipped from Jeju to mainland and I ate almost a whole box in one day. I had no idea how expensive they were. I made sure to spoil my gramps with Hanwoo and pocket money.

My friend from Singapore still talks about the Jeju black pork he had when he vacationed in Jeju two years ago.
He's been to all the hottest pork places in Seoul, but he says it can't compare with his experience in Jeju.
BTW. when in Jeju you have to try the horse meat too.

Does the black pork smell like urine I gag in the grocery stores when I go pass the pork section, because it all smells like urine to me. I will eat ham for Christmas which doesn't smell like urine. The raw different cuts of pork I will not eat at all.

Most Koreans don't actively seek out traditional Jeju local dishes. However, foods like Bingtteok or Momguk hold the history and lifestyle of Jeju people. While novel to tourists, it's fair to say the flavor profile is divisive and not universally loved.

The 0 degree ripening means that they dry age the pork in a fridge for a think a week. It helps to develop the flavor and tenderness of the pork. Oh and Jeju black pork is some of the best pork in the world, not just Korea.

How is it possible that this guy travels all over the world trying different cuisine, but has never disliked anything It's just not believable. I cannot take his reviews seriously when everything gets a raving review.

It takes a very long time to cook abalone until it becomes soft. Cooking it short is almost impossible to get soft meat. In this case it was probably slow cooked. Try it mark, and tell us how it goes.

Everything looked good, but the last restaurant with the grilled black pig was amazing. And a perfect treat at the end with a fresh persimmon of the tree. That's one of my favorite fruits. Yum!

Koreans don’t visit JEJU these days due to tourist get ripped off there.
Many Koreans these days visit overseas instead.
It is cheaper to travel south east Asia than JEJU too.

Korean here, never heard of pheasant being a thing in Jeju. Good to know! :) Anyways, put rice INTO the soup! Rice make the soup thick and even more flavorful.

Juju has been occupied by Chinese people and is becoming increasingly Chinese. Recently, the number of Koreans going to Jeju has decreased significantly.
