Not sure if there's something wrong with me but I feel kinda emotional after watching this one.
The Maldivians clearly don't have much, it seems the local economy is not connected to the tourism benefits and they welcomed Mark beautifully.
I went to the Maldives with my parents as a teenager 20 years ago, in one of those resorts completely separated from the reality of the Maldivian culture and people. I realise now I never visited the Maldives and it's absolutely tragic.
I have to go back.

I love the fact that you're exploring beyond the Four Seasons resort experience. Nobody ever does that and I know this is the third one in the series. That said, everyone should be careful when they are faced with a fruit feast - esp. if you've never eaten some of these varieties or species. It will do a number on your digestive system because it's foreign to you. So be careful not to overeat all at once. Take small samples and make sure you have some Immodium with you lol. Trust me, I've been there.

00: 10 If you’re planning to visit Hulhumeedhoo, don’t miss the local village BBQ and chicken curry it’s a true taste of Maldivian community life. The whole meal costs about 250 Maldivian Rufiyaa (around $16 USD) for four people, which is a great value for authentic home-cooked food. Also, take time to visit the Nalafehi Meedhoo Eco Garden and maybe even plant a tree it’s a meaningful way to give back and see how locals protect their island’s greenery.

I was genuinely moved to tears of joy watching this video. It beautifully captured the very best of our country a side that fills me with pride and deep emotion. The variety of Maldivian dishes showcased was incredible some of which many of us haven’t even had the chance to try. Seeing all of this come from Addu made it even more special. Thank you, Addu, for representing us in such a rich and heartfelt way.

In 2016, I was on Helengeli with my wife two weeks of paradise with such wonderful, incredibly friendly and joyful people. The food was indescribably good! I will never forget it! Even today, I still have the scent of the island stored in my memory. One day, we will return to the Maldives!
Many thanks for allowing us to enjoy two weeks in paradise as your guests!

It’s MIND BLOWING you can have a big fresh, hearty, & healthy breakfast for 4 people. for under $17 USD!
I could actually afford groceries if that’s all I was paying

The way Mark described the octopus - It's been cooked until it's kind of like dehydrated but crispy and condensed flavor. If anyone else said that it would mean overcooked and dry. But the way Mark is saying it makes you think it was cooked that way on purpose.

Mark - I would love to be there right now to eat some of that wild chickens, they have the best taste! The seafood looking amazing with those island seasonings, I can smell the beautiful aroma from where I am! Excellent video

39: 58, it's not called Addu havaadhu in all islands, I think it's just called havaadhu ( with Addu dialect you say Havaadha ) it's called Addu havaadhu because it's made in Addu. This was probably from this island.

I take vacations to the beach and sometimes to islands. So when you said Definition of laid-back-ness, I immediately identified with your take on beach and island culture. Very laid back.

Is it unproper go to beach and swim in ordinary swimwear As I can see on the video all women are covered so bringing my wife, uncovered, there would be cool
reply

As a Sri Lankan, I heard some similar words, Miris and Hakuru.
I think Maldivian cuisine is a mixture of Sri Lankan, Malay, and a little bit of Indian.

I don't know which spread I like best. the seafood spread, the fruit spread, or the delicious spread Auntie cooked at her house. It all looked amazing.
