I like the way she simplified the process. I made them today and they were good. I did add baking powder to my dough and i used vegetable oil in place of lard. I wanted a healthyer option and she provided it in this video. Since people dont have time to spend on making tamales a recipe like this is perfect for those of us on the go, who want homemade and not canned. I only wanted a few tamales to have on hand for nights when i didnt feel like cooking. I think she did a great job. Now I know allot of people are saying this isn't the way to make them ive seen them made many diffetent ways.
Also maybe if all of you who are commenting she isn't doing it right would make suggestions on the proper proceedure instead of criticizing her she could improve her method and still make them fast. Just because something takes a long time to make doesnt make it better. My son has a Mexican mother in law who used the traditional method to make tamales and i did not like hers at all. So how about suggestions in place criticising. There are plenty of video's on You Tube demonstrating how tamales are made. I watched at least 30 of them and every one had their own take on how they are made.
I liked these tamales but i used a vegetarian filling for mine. They were pretty darn good.

Hello fellow tamale lovers,
For years, the spreading of the masa has been done traditionally with a back of a spoon. it takes many strokes and the spoon never really achieves an even spread of masa. The spreding is hard work and mastering the process takes many years. The Mas Tamales Masa Spreader is easy to use and only takes one stroke to get a perfect spread of masa. You can find this wonderful tool at our online store www. etsy. com/shop/MexicoOnline

since there's like a billion different ways to make them plus each Hispanic culture has there own, there's always gonna be people complaining because that's not how their grandma makes em. the other day I ate a tamale from a friend and there were raisins in it, I almost got offended but had to remember that's how it is.

I like your attitude about making tamales. They are so easy to make and you can add whatever you want. Well, easy if you are not making 200. My favorite part, -Oh shit! This is so disorganized. -: -P Have you ever used banana leaves?
