120 CUSHION FOUNDATION. WTF

Today I'm doing a FIRST IMPRESSIONS on the Outrageously Expensive 120 Cushion Foundation from LA MER. Michelle J: Here's the thing with the 12 shades. even if it ranges from super-light to super-deep, most people are going to have to mix it. There are two foundations I found that I love, and I use them both: Maybelline Fit Me and Estee Lauder Double Wear. If the ELDW wasn't a perfect match, I would not pay more money than I pay for the Fit Me. I'm a nurse. When I get up for work, I don't have time to mix. heck, I'm one of the few nurses I know that even has time for foundation. 120? And I'd need to mix it? And your family meeting concluded that it wasn't wearing well? Girl, no. Why don't women that want to buy expensive things buy something that doesn't wash off their face at the end of the day. Buy yourself a nice blingy piece of jewelry instead.

OK so, I've been doing a deep dive on Korean makeup the last few days (cushions originated in S Korea) and these are a few rules. 1. use the anti bacterial sponge included, they are specifically designed to work with the formula. 2. never swipe, drag or roll. this causes streaks 3. use a light hand to pat a thin veil gently across face, 4. the whole point of K-beauty is to look like real healthy skin. ultra dewy, moist, glowing, NOT foundation5. Try to avoid powder, the whole point is to look dewy af, if you must, keep it to the t-zone6. If you have oily skin, pick a mattifying /oil control formula which will still glow, but last longer. Hope this helps anyone wanting to understand BB/Foundatin Cushions, its a fun concept

to be honest most cushions are formulated in a way that they're not really fit for baking and putting a lot of powder on top. i don't know if you've noticed the trend but a lot of cushions in your reviews don't mix well with too much powder. many of you already know this but they're not really foundations right, so instead of doing your regular foundation routine like smacking a lot of powders on top of it, why not apply it as it was meant to be applied to really see it's beauty?

Im not sure if I should be saying this but I think that you may be using cushion puffs wrongly. You are supposed to put your fingers through the sewn fabric on the cushion and pat it onto your skin. Imno beauty guru but I read that Koreans are the ones that first came out with cushion foundations and they always recommend that you tap it into your skin rather than to slide and glide it across your skin. Maybe you can try this out and see if the cushion puff works well: )

Tati, when it comes to cushion I think that it is meant to be applied w the sponge, it changes if it is applied with a brush or fingers. I just saw a video of Patrick K, the brands ambassador, and he uses the sponge and pats it on the skin. I have to say I do not love the Laneige, big diff w Amore Pacific which is the best that Ive tried. Lancome is v good as well, but Amore s my fave

Tati, I love your videos and watch almost all of them but for you to say that 12 shades of foundation is really good. its not right. Yes the foundation range isnt 50 shades of beige but the drastic jumps doesnt help either. Whereas you can use one foundation to do your makeup, I would have to get two or three IF they even have a shade that goes dark enough. This shade range is horrible.

Its so funny seeing American beauty gurus apply cushion foundations with a brush when the whole premise of a cushion foundation is its portability and compact design for on the go application. It sort of defeats the purpose since not everyone is going to have a brush along with them wherever they go when they want to reapply or touch up. Lol

This cushion has launched in Asia for quite a while since we're more of a target customer and the brand gave direction on the application of this cushion that it suppose to be work in thin layer and should wait for it to set and apply more layers, that way the product won't slip or build up weirdly. It's okay to put powder on top.

So, completely off topic. I dont wear makeup. Whenever I watch gurus its challenge videos or collabs, not usually tutorials or reviews. But, I could listen to Tati speak for hours. She has such a pleasant voice, and tone, and pitch, and her enunciation, paired with the incredibly high quality microphone she uses talk about ASMR

If I can, a rep from Amore Pacific once explained why they recommend using the pad w/ cushion foundation. He said the pad is meant for press & roll pushing the makup in so it doesn't just sit on top, unlike a brush. Since I dont like it either (I find it messy) I apply w/ a brush then use their pad to press & roll. No slipping.
