This kind of reminds me, I thought, instead of cloning dinosaurs, dinosaurs as a film franchise should be centered around animatronics, and robots, and it would be called.
Jurassic Mecha
Think about it, the dinosaurs can be as fantastically monstrous as park owners would prefer- no need for pesky paleontological accuracy- and they can be as deadly as we presume killer robots can be, plus no conundrums about ecological preservation and responsibility or questions about what 'nature' i. e. God, chose. And it can still be chaos!

That's not what fedora means, stop using the word fedora. Kill it and let it die. Bury it under a thousand years of sediment. I like the video. Tear the limbs off of fedoras and let them suffer until a wolf or vulture tears their rib cage open and eats their lungs. Let the word fedora fade from the modernistic lexicon not from forgetfulness or disuse, but from scorn and decisive exclusion. Destroy it until it is a taboo to say it.

I have a Dinotopia pop-up book! I was completely -obsessed- with dinosaurs as a kid, and was so happy to find it when I was helping my parents sort through some boxes. It-s framed as sort of a -Visitor-s Guide- to Dinotopia and the various buildings you might see there. Incredible art, for sure.
Also, my dad ran into Stan Winston at a trade show in the early aughts, I geeked out so hard when he came back with pictures.

From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you.
But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal.

Love the side by side comparison of the puppet in 2021 and the puppet in the 1995 game! everything is chef kiss. i also love that Freitas has a whole-ass director's cut setup in his interview, including the director chair. man's prepared. and the low-ish quality of the video call makes him feel like a 1990s FMV character himself, haha

Thanks for creating a creative and interesting video about the work! I like the Carlo rambaldi video explanation of cable control mechanism with his drawings. It was the inspiration for a young artist before internet! Sometimes it helps break the complex ideas into basic step by step to make things work!

Ive had dreams of fighting animatronic dinosaurs. It would actually make a good horror game about an abandoned theme park with broken animatronic dinosaurs roaming around and the waters aren-t safe either. even if they-re on rails they can still get you.

If Simone just does videos interviewing all of the people involved in this game forever, I wouldn't complain. (Also, love how willing Andre Freitas was to show off his work! So fun seeing someone who's passionate about past projects)

-through the magic of these puppets, that dream is obtainable-
Now watch Simone spiral into a full blown supervillain, only so she gets the money to retire in a far away island filled with animatronic dinosaurs -

Yo Simone got to talk with the guy who created the _Dinotopia_ puppets? That's really freaking dope! Dude did a phenomenal job, and I appreciate especially the care put into the visual direction to match the books.

These puppets are incredible- nothing will ever beat good practical effects! Also I highly recommend looking up James Gurney-s more realistic paleontology artwork with feathered dinosaurs, it-s so beautiful

Im so glad simone got to speak with the actual person that made the puppets! What an awesome opportunity. I can't believe this didn't end with him sending you a dinosaur puppet head though

I'd be quite interested in finding out more about the technology behind the Neverhood, that old claymation point and click game that only runs on Windows 95 (or was it 98.

KY is actually used for a lot of other uses in animatronic dinosaurs. In the documentary -Walking with Dinoaurs- KY was used for the saliva of a tyrannosaurus.

Low key thought this interview was from a special features short. It's so cool you got to interview him and he still had so many of the puppets!
