No really, a lot of deer have appeared in game trailers at E3 this year. What's the deal? Watch ALL of our E3 2018 content can i go fake deep a moment? devs create fantasy worlds, however realistic they might be, theyre still creating a space in which the gamers can immerse themselves that is different from real life, right? I dont think the games featuring such greenish pastures are totally conscious. Yes, they are willfully changing from past aestethic, but what drives them to flourishing nature? Theres clearly a factor that attracts the art directives to thinking -this is it, this might sell-. And i do think it has to do with our planets condition, how pollution is impacting our lives and how ecology is now recurring rhetorics. And i dont think its a totally conscious choice either: -Yes climate change, lets make video games about that-; rather a collective consciousness that is attracted to something it craves: lavish greenery and its exploration.
thank you for coming to my tedtalk -video games make me want to be floral nymph (who does murders)-\r\n

Jenna I love your analysis, keep doing more like this! One thing I can add is that deer, at least of the whitetail variety, are as close to domesticated as most -wild animals- get (at least here in the midwest) and so they are thought of as relatively harmless. Compared to a predator like a cougar, wolf, or bear that is still wild but threatening, deer represent the parts of nature that humans like to think represent us best, as you said the -peaceful coexistence-.

I guess this is a some sort of reaction to our current issue with Nature like Climate Change and Extinction of species around the world? We're calling out subconsciously to see Nature's beauty and serenity and to harmonize with it? Oh. And they say Video games aren't art.

I really missed FiendZone this week so thank you for giving me good analysis, even if it's without a direct horror connection. I saw y'all making jokes about deer in trailers but I had no idea it was so prevalent. Loved this!

I get the feeling that not a single one of these games would allow us to pet the deer, and I am preemptively outraged and disheartened about it.
And no, not even Forza would let us gently pet a deer with our car tires.

These are great! Please do one about prosthetic or weird arms because there were also a lot at E3 (not as much as deer) and think it'd be cool video.

Bout time they are represented for something other then to be virtually hunted. Video game deers lives matter too!

The deer in halo is an absolutely important location marker for where the game is set according to the lore.
