I wouldn't say Laura Linney's appearance was 'forgotten', since her character was substantially responsible for how the show ended.
I think Patrick Stewart would hardly have been 'forgotten', either in the context of the show or by those who knew him for his other work?
A on-performer playing themselves doesn't really count as a 'star' in this context: You might have mentioned John Glenn.

'Cheers' was filmed on the same lot as 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' (where Patrick Stewart played 'Capt. Jean-Luc Picard', and Kelsey Grammar being a big ST fan, got to be on TNG in the episode called 'Cause and Effect' as 'Capt. Morgan Bateson'. I guess Grammar later repaid Stewart by having hin on 'Frasier'. And then later starred in the 'X-Men' movies together.

From what I read of the reboot it takes place in Boston and Frasier is still single So it is assumed that things didn't work out Either she rejected him when he gets to Chicago or there relationship just doesn't work out Either way Laura Linney doesn't appear in the reboot
