They may have had the history of their past but it also shows what missing piece they needed to become in the end.
Garnets song shows the meaning of love, Pearls sayed set me free aka independence, amyetst was friendship since that is what led her to discover earths lifestyles, and finally steven described how he always failed/feel weak in the past then says he began to grow aka learning to accept the mistakes and be able to change.
