Coco was a movie i did not liked.
And they missed key aspects of mexicanity, (i live in the state where they came and tooj inspiration, so i know what im talking about, the only good thing are the Alebrijes, wich are underrepresented and have a fantastic story, and no, they are not meant to be kid friendly.
At some instances if the film i felt insulted in key aspects of the caracters.
Mexican culture is 1000x more than just a feel good little town story.

One of my favorite animated movies of this generation. I watched this movie first in Spanish class and as you could guess, it was in Spanish. We had English subtitles but I didn't like it. I watched this movie again in English and I thought it was alright, but watching this movie in Spanish (with a little knowledge of how to speak and understand Spanish) really was an awesome experience.

I liked Coco. It has a couple of holes in it for me though. Firstly, this is set in a nation that is heavily Catholic Christian. Yet the film never grapples with salvation or damnation. I mean, a murderer and his victim are in the same place. Secondly, what did people do prior to the invention of photography? I mean, photos play a major role in this story.

I like Coco but wish they had more classic Mexican songs from Los Tres Gallos which you see them in the movies. Also I can't see this flim multiple times because it makes me cry all the time. For a good fun I trun to Book of Life. Which I can't wait to see what Mexico does for their own movie since they too have been working on a movie themselves.

The outrage on cultural appropriation seriously needs to end. They did everything they could to ensure cultural accuracy but because its a corporation in America it means its white. Racists that don't realize that this helps bring a light and positive publicity on a highly misunderstood cultural tradition.

The very idea of Disney tying to trademark Dia de los Muertos is hilarious.
It's a traditional holiday. That's like Disney trying to trademark Christmas,
or Halloween because they did that one Tim Burton movie.

It's this type of dedication that has made me forsake CGI features made by any other studio.
It doesn't always work, though. still kicking myself for not seeing Arthur Christmas theatrically.

The untold truth of Coco is that Infate's skeleton should look old and not that young in the movie
(You know, the conspiracy that says he died in 2013 and not in the 50s. Is a joke)
