Honestly, as much as I would love to be able to apply my own colors and textures to items in the game, because of the way they've created this game on an entirely different engine, and the way items and sims can be stretched, pulled and made to look however you want, I understand why they haven't gotten color changes into the game just yet. They have to be able to accommodate any size or change that you make to an item, and if they don't already have that type of change or color in the game, how can they know exactly what to do with it? Just like the restrictions on height in the game. Remember, for every action there has to be a reaction. They have to be able to anticipate every move a sim makes and a direction they will go, so that all actions and reactions will match up.
Also, any mod made and applied may not necessarily work properly with all the actions available in the game. That is something we have yet to know, because we don't have the full version of the game to be able to test it out.
That's my opinion on it, at least.

What bugged me was they had tights and stuff as accessories. They had socks as accessories. They even had hats as accessories and accessories work as a different 'layer' of sorts, which means you can put them on top or underneath other clothes and hairs and stuff without having to use a specific hair/bottom/shoe like you would've had to in Sims 2. So why not jackets too? That would've added so many more customisation opportunities in a game that is so stunted to begin with. By sepparating shirts from jackets and stuff they could've easily won over a lot more people (Because the socks/tights as accessories wasn't exactly new, it was around in the Sims 3 too) and expanded on the whole accessory territory in a way never capitalised before but instead they just did the same thing as last game. Maybe in the Sims 5 they'll improve customisation instead of stunt it.

All in all The Sims 4 looks and seems exciting enough for me to drop $70 on it. I don't care about a damn slider for skin tone or a tacky shirt some other simmer made in create-a-sim. So what if they slip in a few things in the DLC that are supposed to be in the base game. If you really want it you'll pay for it and be happy. EA and Maxis are in the business to make money, and if you don't feel EA/Maxis deserves your money for what's been announced. Make your own Sims game and tell me when it's released I'd love to see what you have to offer! (:

At the EA HQ:
What do we need for this new game.
Hmm.
Oh, more gameplay, more graphics, and-
-Designer walks into office-
-Sir, how about we take away stuff that has no reason to be taken away so we can sell it in DLC Packs at a later date? -
That's a. great idea!
That will totally boost our profits and not piss off consumer thus making nobody buy it!
(Honestly, guys, don't buy this game until reviews come out. If the reviews give it a low score, then don't but it. Microsoft needs to realize what they are doing wrong)

honestly, having had the full game for a year, i think i would-ve been equally satisfied just playing with the demo forever. CAS is definitely the best part of the game. except the complete lack of flattering dark skin tones, and awful attempts at black hairstyles. plus, the trait list is pathetic. in sims 3, i would spend ages adding and removing traits, picking their favorites, and aligning everything with their zodiac sign; in sims 4, it takes seconds and only like 3 of the traits are impactful.

Well unless they decide to make a color wheel I'm planning to stick with ts3. We finally got seasons few years ago. Am not playing a new sims just because it says 4 in the title. They just want to put us through the cycle again to wait for pets, pool tables, seasons, world adventures and everything else. So far they have a long way to go to appeal to me. They are dumping gasoline on the franchise and lighting it on fire.

Maybe ea will change their minds and bring back all those customization on sims 3 and improve it, because people is so passed when they say all of the customization in sims 3 is gone on the full game of the Sims 4. I just hope the Sims 4 is a really great upgrade over the Sims 3. :)

I don't mind complaining I hate it when people complain about people not liking the game. I mean holy balls we're paying so much extra cash when we lost key things. I'm into creating sims so I go full OCD if I can't customize colours sometimes. But I might follow you now. :)

I understand why there-s no create a style, or adding in your own textures and stuff. But at least make a color wheel! It sucks because if you have two pieces of clothing that would go great together, but the colors don-t match, then your screwed.
