Checking out Long Island Retro Gaming Expo, a unique classic game show at the Cradle of Aviation Museum! An overview of the show itself, what it's like attending and exhibiting, and of course a tour of everything they had on display in 2024. It's become my favorite vintage video game event, so let's dive in! Join as an LGR '486' or 'Pentium' member to access perks!

New York really always had to up to ante in just about everything, huh
This Expo looks amazing and has just about everything you'd want on a retro gaming expo.
The only teeny-tiny gripe I didn't see is 90s Big Box games for sale.
Other than that, you guys look like y'all had a fantastic week on this exhibit.
Thank you for all the footage and IN-DEPTH detail on what this convention had to offer. LGR at his best!

In the thumbnail when YT showed me my subscription list, it looked like the airplane had crashed into the building and people were just chilling out at lunch tables (So people were safe, this was just a prop, and they were using the aircraft as a food provider. I had to open up the video to see the wire straps holding the aircraft up. Not enough coffee yet. I'll be OK.

I'd heard of this show before, but hadn't paid it much mind, but this video's sold me on it! A buddy and I are already talking about going next year. We're outside Ottawa, Canada and it's an 8 hour drive from my place to the museum's front door. The pinball free play alone is worth the trip for us and combine all this with an awesome aviation museum too Hell yeah!

I like the gaming expo and the game collection LGR. Meanwhile, I have plans to explore HCI and game design as an academic research topic for my master's design degree sometime in the near future. I think such an expo will be a good experience to learn about the gaming community.

I love even just the first 4 minutes of this video, thank you for even just a little bit to advocate for intercity and regional public transit and walkability. It’s always great to hear good urbanism takes from someone who makes content on completely different subjects.

Oooh. This venue reminds me of the venue of this local Toy Convention I was at. The convention center was actually an old centrifuge used for training astronauts. The main room is actually the main centrifuge chamber. That was so cool just to walk through

So awesome to see kids having their minds opened and hopefully understanding that OWNING physical copies of all your media is infinitely better than paying every month to RENT. With that rental able to be yanked from you at any time, leaving you with nothing.

I’m glad you enjoyed the show! I hope you come back next year and spend some time in my import stories area. I remember meeting you and your brother but when my brain is in show mode I have no idea who anyone is lol

It's definitely possible to create a full dome video. Premiere and After Effects both support it and it can be fairly straight forward to take advantage of it. If you can get some 360/180 footage, all the better.

This expo really feels like it nails the balance between professional and personable. Usually you only get one at the expense of the other, and oftentimes you get neither!
Looks rad.

I’m from LI and had no clue this was even a thing! It’s also so fun to watch someone dissect their visit to a museum i’ve gone to so many times throughout my life. Hope you enjoyed!

Wow, I can't believe the museum allows something like this. You would think the risk to the display's with all those people would be a big NO to hold a convention this large in it.

thank you LGR for taking us along for the ride/tour
I live in a very small Canadian city and we don't get anything like this hear or within a few hour drive.

It took me like an hour to get through this video because I kept pausing to soak everything in! It's so dense, every single frame has so many things going on.

Saw you doing b-roll and timing didn't work to stop by your table to meet you. But this is a great profile and the show was fantastic. Hopefully next time.

Ooo amtrack, we went to usa from europe and we took a train from washington dc to new York and the train broke down and had to wait for a rescue train lol

Did you re-upload this video I was watching it and then suddenly after 3 minutes it said 'video not available' and indeed I couldn't find it anymore.
reply

Go figure now that I don't live on Long Island I miss out on meeting you. Lol. This years expo looked so much better than th previous years I've been!
