Yes, shes Damien Chazelles wife and yes, she has a part in the movie, where she does a great job! She plays the wife of Armstrongs best friend, who gets blown up preparing for the mission. The daughter of that wife is very happy with the portrayal and thinks she did her mom great justice. Thats surely the most important!
Give her a break on this interview. Shes never been on a talkshow and is clearly dead nervous. A pity really. Ive seen her in other videos from the press promos. Shes very sharp, witty and articulate, just dead nervous.
She would still have been invited, if she wasnt Chazelles wife. A lot of the other supporting actors have been on talkshows too. Shes been on the whole promo tour with her movie husband, the one who gets blown up. The movie focuses a lot on the astronauts personal sacrifices and the wives and mothers that face great anguish and still have to keep up appearances and the families together, while their husbands are away all the time. Shes one of them and experiences the worst case scenario, that Armstrong and his family are constantly dreading. They are 13 on the promo tour: director Damien Chazelle, scripter Josh Singer, composer Justin Hurwitz, Armstrongs 2 sons, Mark and Rick Armstrong, the daughter of the astronaut who blew up, Patty White, the actors, Ryan Gosling, Claire Foy, the guy who plays Buzz Aldrin, the guy who plays Michael Collins, Kyle Chandler who plays the mission control guy, the guy who plays the astronaut who blew up, Ed White, and this woman here. Its NOT just her, her director-husband and Ryan Gosling. With her movie-husband there, its only normal, that she should be there too.

Give her a break, shes nervous and Im sure it wasnt her idea to have her promote the film. Her husband is an ace director, he wouldnt cast a dud actress just because theyre married.
