I really enjoyed Evil West. A solid 7/10 and I don't mean that an insult. Partly I'd take points off because its maybe a couple of levels too long. Although I can't think of one that was bad or needed removing.
Funnily enough for me RoboCop is a really good 7/10 game too. And again a point off because its slightly too long, although in this case its definitely the hub bits that could be trimmed. Maybe a 7. 5 if I'm comparing it to Evil West because its better than that.
Again I don't want people to think I'm damning either game with faint praise. They were well worth playing and I had a blast virtually the whole time. I love a game like this. (Almost) no bloat, fun and engaging, don't think too much and just punch or blast your way through. Both games really make you feel the impact of fists or bullets. Play through, have fun and finish and feel satisfied even though you aren't going to be thinking about them for that long afterwards.

Honestly I LOVE that some games are going back to old-school roots. I'm not a fan of souls-like games. Not because of difficulty but just playstyle generally. Some exceptions exist. Like the new Jedi games are fun for example, but ones like those are rare. Not to mention all the open world choice matters RPG heavy games. Those have their place and they can be a lot of fun but not everything needs to be that. Sometimes all I want is for a game to give me a weapon, and a silly premise for a story, and point me at what needs to die then let me off the leash for 10-20 hours of chaos and violence. Lots of cheesy one liners are always a plus lol.

I have an issue with the premise of this video. Games from the noughties are modern. These are what came out when we were adults and have far more in common with releases in the last 5 years than the classic games we played as kids, like Minesweeper, Lemmings, Commander Keen or the original Prince of Persia. Or when you went to visit a rich friend who had a ZX Spectrum you could play Pong on. To me, the games that marked the start of the modern era are Duke Nukum 3D (having played the original Duke Nukem) and Grand Theft Auto 3. They were a step above SkiFree and Rodent's Revenge.

It's called Dead Island because LA has been essentially walled off from the rest of the world. It's a corrupted zone surrounded by a larger uncorrupted zone(the rest of the world, not a literal island. You forgot to mention the amazing destruction animations on the zombies. If you hit one in the jaw, it's jaw will break or fly off, slashes on the chest show that- it made the gameplay more immersive and was just good, gross fun.

Alone In The Dark was returned in 15 minutes. Completely unplayable on with my AMD 7950X3D and Gigabyte RTX4090.
My gaming PC is just that, a gaming PC. I use it for nothing else. Only game related stuff is installed. So, there's nothing
on the PC to possible make the game run so bad. Nothing for it to conflict with. Thank goodness for Steam's return policy.

Dead island 2 was pretty good. Much better than I expected. My only complaints are the base campaign was too short and I could have done without the weird card system, but other than that was spot on. Man Eater was also insane fun. One of the few games I ever bothered to platinum. Not that doing so was that hard, but still.

Kinda sad to not see ratchet and clank a rift between on there. As someone that grew up with ratchet and clank, everything felt nostalgic while still feeling fresh. The bizarre weapons, the humour, the story. The whole thing felt good while the gameplay was super fun and didn't feel stuck in the past

Maneater is such an underrated game. It's a Jaws power fantasy that goes off the wall. Plays well, pretty well balanced. Great environment design. And it's plot is so cheesy that it's amazing. Plus it's the only game like it that I've ever played. If you haven't played it yet; please do so in 2025

You know how people say games are not like before. Capcom did Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess and it is the most 2000ish game that came out recently and it is really good. The Demo also let you play several missions. It always gives me the Pinkmin and Okami vibes when playing it.

I think a case can be made for Days Gone as having vibes of the 2000s. It doesn't take itself to seriously and one of its only flaws is it's probably too long. Imagine that these days, a game that gives you too much of a good thing is its weakness, good times.

Maneater, come for the shark, stay for Chris Parnell. Seriously fun, completionist hell adjacent while also somehow addictive as fu3k. If I angle it right, hit boost at just the right time and double jump just right I can get the licence plate on that hut.

I enjoyed Maneater even though there was a couple points I had to grind out a level or two and that was burning but after getting toward the endgame and fighting all the other bosses, overall it was a super fun time. Enjoyed completing that game.

There is no chamce he thinks gears inspired Warhammer 40k. which has been around since like the late 70s or early 80s. Cant remember exactly when Warhammer 40k was started. But its older than i am. Gears wasnt created till the 2000s

Comparing Evil West to modern games like God of War (reboot) is a bit of an injustice as well. I always saw it more as a spiritual successor to Darkwatch, with more powers, higher fidelity, and adding some innovations since then.

I want GOOD Dead Island sequel. The original and Dead Island Riptide had an awesome dreary feel while you played. That is what made them good. It pulled you into the game. Dead Island 2 is just fun gore and puzzles.

I loved the terminator resistance game. I should try the Robocop game since its made by the same people. They know how to make things fun and simple. that is what gaming should be. No microtransaction shit, just fun.
