Does ps5 need to aggressively compete with xbox game pass?

GamePass is the sole reason I bought a second hand 1tb XBOX One S this week. I've never been a console gamer (except Nintendo in my kid years), always preferred PC games (genres like RTS, Simulation and grand strategy are my cup of tea, and they work best on PC) but I tried out GamePass for PC and noticed I was willing to try games I would have never bought. Liked it, was in the market for a Blu-ray player, so thought what's the hurt in getting a One S (which has a Blu-ray player) to try that console gaming on the cheap?!
I don't own a 4k TV yet, so last gen is fine for me, and an entree point at a -150 was absolutely a steal. And if I like it, I'll upgrade to that series X when I'm upgrading my tv. Meanwhile Microsoft has me (not a classic Xbox consumer) pay -12,99 a month, playing on last gen hardware but very likely to upgrade down the line to their latest and greatest.
I think that there might be a lot of people like me, getting in on the cheap. GamePass, backwards compatibility and declaring XBOX a platform instead of a shift in generations, are the essentials that give me faith that, me buying last gens hardware will be fun for me for years to come! Seems like the right move for them to make. It's about expanding the userbase, instead of milking a ever shrinking one for all they can (looking at you Sony!)
So, in my humble opinion? If Microsoft executes their strategy well? Then they absolutely has a game changer on their hands!

Gears, Ori and game pass are the only reason I got an Xbox series s. Xbox is a great console and I love game pass but they don't have that many exclusives I like. Gears in my opinion is their only master piece game and I love it. This is why I always been a PlayStation and Nintendo player because of their awesome exclusives. I guess this is why I never had an Xbox before until now. I don't like none of the games they announced are coming so far. I don't like halo to be honest. I guess my only reason to keep this Xbox is game pass, gears and wait for gears 6. Hopefully they release something good in the future.

Game Pass is the best deal in gaming. A ton of games available with all of Xbox Game Studio games. They have around 23 game studios. Tons of exclusives including Forza, Halo, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Gears Of Wars, Doom and many more. All day 1 releases included in the subscription to GP. Easily the best deal.

Sony did not win the console war
Xbox with game pass and Emulator for ps2 games, Nintendo, and much more. Plus backward compatibility for all Xbox games. Man no one talking about this. You can use your Xbox one x controller on series x lol.

GPU is the reason I bought the XSX... I can now test/try games without shelling money for discs. I'll just delete the game if I don't like then download a new one. Will still get the PS5, I have several PS4 discs in my library..

One of you's getting my money for a subscription thank you for the review either Xbox or Playstation because I'm tired of buying games that are expensive and I don't plan on spending $70 on PS5 games during a pandemic
