She throws a big ham radio on the hood of the car with no antenna hooked to it. That is one big important thing I think at least a few of us should catch right away. And with the Morse Code she was supposedly using it would probably need to be a long wire (dipole) antenna. At the very least she needed to shove a coat hanger in the back of it for effect. LOL It would never work in real life but try to make an attempt to convince the audience that you are constructing a make-shift antenna in hopes you can reach him. I am losing faith in humanity for not being able to see obvious things any longer. We have seriously dumbed down over the last several politically tampered with years. It seems like I am watching a bunch of 6 to 9 year old's all saying the same crap like a militia of bots.

Hey folks. This is Steven Kerr. Concept creator and Director of Spiral
Really glad to finally see Spiral premiere on DUST and be shown alongside SciFi that has such talent in front of the camera like the late, great Alan Rickman and the visionaries behind the camera that bring these stories to life.
Very keen to hear what your thoughts are. Has it stood the test of time I’m writing this just before the screening as it’s near midnight here in Perth, Western Australia.
Side note: It’s been screened in Moscow at the world’s oldest film school as part of their student festival.
The reason it was selected is both controversial and heartwarming

The message relayed is to not trust anyone in power, they aren't on our side. So we've learned not to speak with them and operate on our own. And by doing so we have many back doors we don't share, and work in the dark. Like a pendulum everything swings back and forth. And it's our turn, we have the ability to shut anything down. And you'll never find us. So message heard loud and clear. It's human's turn to do as we will. And they or them, are not part of our plan. So they'll simply evaporate away. We've woken up thanks to them.

Plot twist: another astronomer in Australia forgot to close microwave oven and it reflect signal from local radio amateur, who decided to use that situation and meet a young woman working at the outpost, so pretend to be an astronaut
p. s. all those made up stories about the lost cosmonaut were debunked many times, so its just another version and not very original.

So powerful. Nothing like a bit of DUST to help me with my Mondays. The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater - JRR Tolkien

and once again a very boring film. I would also like to leave good comments but 90% of your films are very boring. really very boring I would be ashamed to put something like that online but you have no honor. I have enough stories good stories don't make films without a good story!

Henderson Sloane, Deputy Senior Executive of what He's going to have a civilian court marshalled If all Dimitri had to do was yank his control stick to the left and activate his retros why did he need her help to reenter I'd like my sci-fi to at least have some sci!

This is one of the best shorts I have ever seen. Hit all the note perfectly and the actors are spot on.
The entire crew captured, edited and enhanced it beautifully.
Thank you all for this gem!
Everyone involved in this should be very proud.

Do you know about the war crimes and genocides against other peoples committed by the Soviet Union With that success, you could make a film about a Chinese cosmonaut and a North Korean one. Is it no longer relevant to make films about an American astronaut

Really bad on all accounts. It's maybe a student grade quality of a C. There are WAY, WAY better amateur clips. This one is not worthy of a Dust recommendation. All these upvotes are either misguided or confused with all the PC agendas.

Really great idea, great acting and great cinemotpgraphy. However, Oi did the pace of this short was very fast and felt super rushed. It would be so great to have this go a little longer in parts and cut other things un-needed.

Talk about blind dates eh, love conquers all, and everybody's happy except for that bonehead boss. Great storyline great acting and a happy ending what more could you ask for. Fantastic science fiction short story.

lol the absurdity that a dude orbiting the earth not even knowing where he is, then at a moments notice can magically land close enough to this lady that he can walk over to her afterwards. can we be a little more realistic

Thank you. I've always been fond of the MiG Spiral, despite it being designed to be used in anger. A great short to remind us the State, like a border are stories we tell ourselves to excuse terrible things.

The pendulum of Katrina's heartfelt emotion, from losing a new friend, to gaining him after all. this portrayal is marvelous. That actress has chosen the right career.
reply

Nice story. a bit unrealistic, but I'm sure that's due to time constraints rather than imagination. Showed a lot of human connection in a very short amount of time.
reply

Here's to all of the Katrina's in the world, who choose to stand up to the cycle of hatred and to stick to what it means to be a decent human being. Great video!

What a beautiful story. Us Aussies just seem to know how to put together a simple, yet profoundly moving, story. Bravo! Mitch, Queensland.
